Your opportunity:
Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL is a global program with sites at Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Atlanta, Seattle, Wisconsin, Estonia, and Berlin. The program’s objective-setting process enhances the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their probability of success. Each stream within each CDL site hosts a series of 4 annual objective-setting sessions that are the primary mechanisms by which the program is delivered. CDL sessions are complex, full-day events that may be hosted virtually or in person and that bring together participating start-ups, mentors, partners, and business students. At the end of each annual program cycle, CDL hosts a two-day event called Super Session that brings together graduating start-ups as well as mentors, partners, and students from across the network.
The CDL Marketing Team has the following key focus areas: Brand and Creative (all encompassing strategy that brings together perception, values, affiliations, vision, communication andexperience), Community (engaging internal and external CDL network to spark meaningful conversations online and offline), Content (curate stories about the CDL network to increase brand awareness and interest), Email (optimize structure, quality and relevance of emails), Media and PR (develop strong relationships with media outlets and leverage earned media coverage to increase brand awareness and interest), Recruitment (leverage marketing tactics to complement and enhance recruitment efforts), Social Media (deliver high-quality, relevant and engaging social content), and Website (showcase CDL in an intuitive and concise manner).
Reporting to the Associate Director managing marketing and communications, you will be responsible for planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy independently. Developing and implementing digital communication campaigns and programs that support strategic objectives. Drafting and editing content for print and/or online communications channels. Developing and maintaining guidelines and procedures for web and digital media standards, content and use. Providing detailed analysis and recommendations on the suitability of major new technology and software systems. Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives. Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance. Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with senior management to gain approval for strategies and plans. Developing and implementing social media programs and initiatives independently. Developing and implementing social media operational procedures and best practices that support strategic objectives. Advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth. Advising clients on social media strategies and planning activities. Producing promotional and outreach materials. Determining key performance indicators to measure success. Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making. Analyzing digital analytic report data. Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program. Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy independently
- Developing and implementing social media operational procedures and best practices that support strategic objectives
- Drafting procedures and guidelines for content development and digital media use
- Developing and editing standard operating procedures for online content production and use
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with social media influencers, communities, bloggers and website users
- Monitoring and assessing online conversations to ensure alignment with policies and guidelines
- Developing and maintaining guidelines and procedures for web and digital media standards, content and use
- Producing promotional and outreach materials
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or communications; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum five (5) years recent and related experience in digital marketing and social media management
- Strong research planning, project management and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Experience using social media analytical tools and presenting insights
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Passion to consistently meet or exceed performance objectives
- Strong team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently and autonomously
- Highly organized with strong project management experience an asset
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in social media, content marketing and managing digital platforms is essential
- Ability to work seamlessly across multiple levels, demonstrating flexibility in working simultaneously across global and local projects that span various cross-functional initiatives
Assets (Nonessential):
- Familiarity with emerging communications technologies (i.e. Slack, Airtable, Salesforce) is preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
