About the Team:

The Recruitment team at Wealthsimple has grown significantly over the past year. We’re currently a team of 20+, and we’ll continue to grow rapidly along with the business. The Recruitment team partners closely with the business and has played an invaluable role in scaling teams across the company. As a Manager, Talent Acquisition, you will lead a team of Technical Recruiters and work closely with stakeholders in Data Science, Product, UX, Security, Marketing, and more. You will have a strong focus on coaching, metrics and analytics, and will advise on scaling our technical teams.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and grow a team of world-class Technical Recruiters to effectively hire and scale teams to align with Wealthsimple’s rapid growth
  • Partner deeply across Data, Product, Design and Marketing, and other technical business units, and advise leadership on long-term growth strategies for talent acquisition

  • Has extensive experience in technical or marketing/growth recruiting
  • Has experience managing direct reports and experience coaching and developing team members.
  • Has deep analytical and prioritization skills; you approach problems from first-principles and know how to balance what needs to be done with what’s possible to do
  • Is proactive in assessing talent/hiring needs, reevaluating practices, and brings new ideas to Wealthsimple

Who we need

We are looking to hire a full time, contract, to cover for a 18 month maternity leave (until May 2023). This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies and creative to acquire and onboard new donors into the annual giving (one-time donations) portfolio. Using sophisticated analytics this role will oversee and develop best-in-class marketing campaigns that improve life-time value and strong 2nd gift rates. The role will deliver donors that result in favourable first time and repeat giving. In addition, the role will oversee digital and email marketing to support Direct Marketing with a focus on marketing automation within the salesforce marketing cloud framework.

How you will make an impact every day

Business Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the strategy development and team responsible for the donor journeys for one-time donation acquisition and onboarding campaigns.
  • Lead yearly and quarterly planning process for acquisition, onboarding and Direct Marketing email portfolios
  • Develop short-term and long-term fundraising strategies for the portfolio including testing and analytics
  • Work closely with peers to ensure pipeline development is planned and executed seamlessly
  • Through analytics, intimately understand the donors and the triggers for response and reactivation.
  • Continually drive to achieve a low cost of acquisition and high second gift objectives while delivering on lifetime value goals
  • Define and work with Analytics and Insights team to develop donor-first journeys.
  • Ensure that the email infrastructure and processes support best in class tactics

Campaign Planning and Execution

  • Oversee and manage the development and planning of all portfolio initiatives, including critical path, budgets, production and stakeholder involvement/approvals.
  • Provide regular and timely updates to leadership of all key timelines, challenges, critical paths and outcomes
  • Lead briefing with agencies to develop marketing communications and supporting programs to deliver on campaign objectives
  • Modify campaign plans, as necessary, based on real time results, market conditions and new learnings

Operations, Analytics and Budget Management

  • Lead the development and management of annual business plans, financial outlooks and budgets for the portfolio.
  • Manage a detailed monthly review of spending against budget and ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of expenses and analyze and resolve variances.
  • Evaluate and measure the results of all campaigns versus targets as responses are received and upon completion of campaign.
  • Liaise with internal analysts and external vendors to decide targeting and ensure accuracy and timeliness of list development
  • Comply with all policies and practices at HSF, including compliance with Code of Professional Conduct.

Talent Management

  • Lead talent development, ensuring high standards, competence and that staff is well supported in fulfilling their accountabilities, developing their skills and achieving their career potential.
  • Providing clear direction on business goals and priorities; ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals.
  • Build and develop cohesive lateral relationships cross functionally.
  • Establish performance plan and objectives and review on an ongoing basis; provide coaching and feedback as per the performance management process
  • As required, recruit skilled talent in support of current and future Foundation needs, following Foundation policies, interviewing methodology and assessment guidelines.

What you bring

  • University Degree in related area
  • Minimum of 7 years of marketing / fundraising experience and strategic planning
  • 1-3 years of people management experience
  • Online and offline acquisition marketing experience
  • Demonstrated success in premium and non-premium acquisition mail programs
  • Deep understanding of and experience with database marketing, marketing automation within Salesforce Marketing Cloud framework
