  • Produce preliminary and detailed design of transportation and municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team including engineers and technologists.
  • Develop engineering drawings for private and municipal stakeholders including (but not limited to) storm / sanitary / water servicing plans, grading designs, road profiles and cross section details for greenfield and reconstruction projects.
  • Prepare and/or review technical reports and calculations to support the design process including storm and sanitary sewer design tables, functional servicing reports, and volume calculations.
  • Assist in project delivery by preparing specifications and documentation for construction tender packages including quantity take offs, traffic control plans and review of shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with sub consultants.
  • Attend/ participate in project team meetings.
  • Assist with other duties such as on-site work as required.

Qualifications:What you will need to succeed

  • A diploma in civil engineering technology
  • 3+ year’s work experience, with prior consulting engineering and/or municipal experience considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Knowledge of the functional and detailed design of roads, sewers, water mains and drainage works including relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including the ability work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask on various projects.
  • Previous experience using Bluebeam Revu is considered an asset but not a requirement.
  • Registered as a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) or Certified Technician (CTech) in the province of Ontario, or eligible for registration within six months, is considered an asset but not a requirement.

  • Prepare and contribute to communication and engagement materials including presentations, agendas, key messages, frequently asked questions, fact sheets, display panels and workbooks
  • Analyze and synthesize input received through the course of stakeholder engagement activities and prepare consultation summary reports
  • Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement programs leveraging digital technologies, including website content management systems, email marketing, mobile apps, social media, video and other digital communications and engagement tools
  • Attend and support the planning and facilitation of stakeholder engagement events of various sizes and complexity
  • Collaborate with technical and professional staff from across the company and sub-consultants to edit and merge work from multiple sources into a harmonized written ‘voice’ on a range of assignments
  • Support client relationships and business growth in Ontario, including proposal writing
  • Ensure professionalism and personal accountability for time management, quality control, troubleshooting of project work, and meeting timelines and budgets
  • Travel to other Dillon offices and project locations to attend in-person meetings and public events, as needed

Qualifications:What you will need to succeed

  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in planning from a planning program accredited by the Professional Standards Board
  • Eligibility to attain full membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) within three (3) years of accepting the position
  • One (1) to three (3) years of professional planning experience in Ontario, preferably in the consulting environment

Experience:Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of the municipal and provincial land use planning policy framework in Ontario (e.g., Provincial Policy Statement, Growth Plan, Greenbelt Plan and other legislation)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of meaningful community engagement in community planning
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of policy planning projects at a local or regional scale
  • Strong communications skills, with particular emphasis on report writing including the ability to adopt different formats and styles required by the project and a high level of grammatical proficiency
  • Ability to think critically and strategically
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Responsible, organized, accountable and committed to excellence
  • Able to work in a self-directed, multidisciplinary team setting
  • Experience in group facilitation, public and stakeholder engagement and/or Indigenous community engagement would be an asset
  • Familiarity with graphic design software would be an asset

  • Manage air quality projects for facilities (including oil and gas facilities, aggregate extraction and processing, power generation facilities, industrial/manufacturing facilities and municipal facilities), transportation projects, Land Use Compatibility assessments, etc.
  • Listen, interpret and understand client needs, and develop clear, science-based approaches to developing solutions that meet client expectations
  • Provide technical support to junior and intermediate level staff on project work including monitoring, modelling, development of abatement strategies, and regulatory liaison.

Qualifications:What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental, chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • P.Eng designation with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • 10+ years experience in environmental consulting or related experience in air quality.
  • Demonstrated relationship with local regulators (e.g. MECP) through project delivery.

Experience:

  • Experience in air quality related work is considered a must, including:
  • An understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to air quality including air approvals using standard and alternative methods, eg. site-specific standards, industry/technical standards, etc.
  • Experience preparing emission summary and dispersion modelling reports (ESDMs) and other air impact assessments to support ECAs, EASRs, and EAs.
  • Demonstrated abilities in project teamwork, team leadership, and client relationship building.
  • Demonstrate success with managing client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in an environment that provides quality, solution-oriented consulting services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with GHG quantification, verification, and reporting is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with MECP’s environmental land use planning guides (D-series Guidelines) and experience in the application of D-series Guidelines in land use compatibility assessments is considered an asset.
