Job description: Location: Toronto or remote

Start Date: ASAP

Details: Contract (3-6 months)

Salary: $50,000

Want to Change the World?

Rumie is a no-cost, digital library of micro-courses, empowering anybody with a mobile device to build critical 21st-century skills in minutes. For us, education is not about profit, it’s about unleashing the potential in everyone.

Our library focuses on the types of life and career skills that we don’t learn in school (but wish we did).

We work with volunteers to transform important insights into Bytes that are as engaging and scrollable as social media.

We leverage data and machine learning to deliver recommendations and personalized content, creating a learning experience that feels more fun than an online class.

We work with partners like internet service providers, to meet modern learners where they already are – through public WiFi (while waiting for a bus or even in a laundromat) or skills training programs infused with Rumie Bytes. So that every person has access to free and open learning, that’s easy.

We are funded by corporate partnerships and non-profit organizations that believe in our mission.

We are doing significant work globally, including in Afghanistan and for Afghan refugees coming to Canada.

We’re a tight-knit team dedicated to empowering 1 million learners by the end of 2021. Here is your opportunity to be a part of the team that helps us get there.

Job Description

  • Lead, develop and implement a strategic comprehensive fundraising program which includes major gifts (individuals, foundations and corporations), and grant support, legacy giving, stewardship and events.

Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating and stewarding prospects and donors in support of Rumie’s priorities.

Working directly with Rumie’s Executive Director, board of directors, and program colleagues, to manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.

Establish performance metrics, evaluating and monitoring the success of fundraising strategies.

Prospect, initiate, develop and maintain relationships with key donors, stakeholders and partners.

Lead the organization in the development of a case for support.

Collaborate with the Rumie’s director of partner success, financial lead and implementation teams to write and deliver tailored grants and applications to solicit foundations, corporations, government and individuals.

Update and maintain Rumie’s fundraising tracker for the purposes of moves management, donations management, donor recognition, and acknowledgement programs.

Develop and implement an effective stewardship, recognition and communications program for all supporters.

The Challenge

We are a non-profit technology company that drives for maximum social impact, however we have costs to maintain our world class technology products to assure our sustainability, and share our products with the world. We need to seek out new funding opportunities and maintain our relationships with current donors.

Qualifications

Required

University or college degree or related experience in sales, marketing, business development or corporate account management.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding annual revenue targets.

Demonstrated experience working with donors across the country is preferred.

Demonstrated success in soliciting multi-year gifts of $10K+.

Strong proposal writing skills appealing to donors’ interests.

Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment – developing partnerships with teams in a multidisciplinary environment.

Strong organizational skills to determine work priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast paced work environment.

Out-of-the-box thinker; creative and able to bring fresh strategies and ideas to fruition.

Ability to effectively and passionately communicate with a wide variety of audiences.

Understanding and experience of best practices in operating and meeting the statutory and regulatory obligations of a registered charity.

Experience with donor database tools.

Desired:

Experience working in a startup environment.

Understanding of the donors Rumie would appeal to.

Why join our team?

You will be at the centre of disrupting the learning landscape for the better.

Opportunity to own a function of a company on an upward trajectory.

We have won the Google Impact Challenge and we were named the “World’s Best Social Startup” by Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Funders and Supporters include Y Combinator/Imagine K12 in Silicon Valley, WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education), and some of the most prominent CEOs in North America.

You’ll be part of an effective, creative, and resourceful team that maintains great camaraderie (and you can play on our summer softball team!).

We offer competitive benefits, and a working environment that’s human-centric.

You’ll be shaping the future of an organization with global reach.
