Position Overview:
As an Electrical Engineer/Project Manager within the Renewals Department, you will play a pivotal role in renovation and tenant improvement projects across various commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. Your responsibilities will include leading the electrical design process for retrofit and upgrade work, collaborating with the new buildings team on select projects, and ensuring the integration of new systems within existing structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee electrical design work for building renewal and renovation projects, including tenant improvements and system upgrades.
- Evaluate and document existing electrical infrastructure through site reviews and condition assessments.
- Develop practical, code-compliant solutions for integrating new systems within existing buildings.
- Prepare and coordinate design drawings, specifications, and reports across all project stages.
- Collaborate closely with in-house architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
- Support the Renewals team with contract administration, site instructions, and construction-phase coordination.
- Participate in feasibility studies, load calculations, and life safety system upgrades.
- Contribute technical expertise to support the new buildings Electrical team on select projects.
- Mentor junior staff and participate in internal QA/QC and technical reviews.
- Engage with clients and project stakeholders, providing clear communication and responsive service.
- Work directly with the VP of Renewals on business development pursuits to grow the department.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in building electrical systems.
- Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia, or eligible for registration.
- Strong understanding of building systems, electrical codes, and construction constraints.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
- Experience in contract administration and construction-phase coordination.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to project management.
