  • Supervising a team of trades, support staff, and contractors, managing schedules and delegating tasks to achieve overall objectives within budget, quality, and timeline constraints.
  • Working with trades, projects, Facilities Decommissioning (FD), Health, Safety, security, Environment and Quality (HSSE) support staff (Radiation Protection, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Protection) and other support groups to resolve problems and issues related to the remediation and decommissioning programs.
  • Establishing, implementing, and monitoring training compliance to ensure all regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
  • Leading Plan of Day (POD) meetings with teams, ensuring pre-jobs/post-jobs are completed.
  • Collaborating with Facility Authority/Facility Management (FA/FM) in handling response, reporting, and investigation of unusual incidents.
  • Providing necessary support and resources for specialized tasks and assignments.
  • Working with Facilities Decommissioning, HSSE, and Program Execution teams to support decommissioning & maintenance activities.
  • Adhering to fieldwork plans and permits, including hold points and signoffs before advancement.
  • Collaborating with functional support teams to maintain alignment across all phases of work and project execution.
  • Providing Contractor oversight and management.
  • Collaborating with technical staff to resolve problems/issues and maintain a safe path forward approach to work execution.
  • Establishing and upholding standards for quality assurance.
  • Prioritizing tasks and deliverables to ensure adherence to all timelines.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance care & maintenance activities and processes and proposing solutions to address challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Secondary school graduation in Grade 12 advanced level in Math, Science and English or equivalent.
  • Experience
  • Must have substantial relevant experience in a specialized field, including at least five (5) years in a leadership role and/or operational environment (such as nuclear or similar industries).
  • Demonstrated expertise in contractor oversight and management, process improvements, training development, and information management.
  • Background in nuclear operations and/or decommissioning environments.
  • Planning, resource allocation, status updates, and performance monitoring for medium-to-large scale projects.
  • Working with and overseeing contractor work execution.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to be a certified Asbestos Abatement Supervisor.
  • Contribute insights on activities with potentially significant impacts on health, safety, and the environment.
  • Strong capability to estimate resources for projects of varying scales (including materials and labour).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at conveying information to team members and clients, and skilled in collaborative problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and encourage autonomy in others, capable of operating with minimal supervision.
  • Maintaining team cohesion among reporting staff and across departments.
  • Demonstrate strong organization and planning abilities; proficient in setting priorities, developing action plans, meeting deadlines, and monitoring performance.
  • Show initiative, motivation, and effective interpersonal skills in interactions with management, peers, and clients.
  • Capable of daily communication with diverse groups at all organizational levels, both on project-related and general matters.
  • Adaptable in performing various tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of waste management principles and volume reduction methodologies.
  • Experience with Scope of Work (SOW) development and execution, Request for Information (RFI) process, Procurement Process knowledge, and Quality Assurance requirements will be essential.
  • Familiarity with the Canada Labour Code, WHMIS regulations, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations, and other life safety codes.
  • Competence in applying relevant codes and standards for decommissioning nuclear sites and buildings.
  • Knowledge of systems, structures, and components related to nuclear reactors and ancillary facilities.
  • Understanding of construction and demolition techniques.
  • Responds professionally, effectively, and promptly to management, technical staff at all levels, and external agencies.
  • Knowledge of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, and company program manuals as they pertain to decommissioning processes.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to wear a respirator and work in active environments.
  • Must be available for work outside regular hours during emergencies, maintenance needs, decommissioning activities, breakdowns, or to meet regulatory deadlines/commitments.
  • Flexibility in schedule, including potential work in nuclear facilities, office settings, and remote work arrangements, may be necessary.
  • 4 day work week, 10 hour shifts.
