Why is this role important?The Program Specialist is the subject matter expert in search engine optimization (SEO). The Specialist understands the complexities of technical SEO and can use SEO reporting tools to formulate data-driven insights and advise cross-functional teams on how to continuously improve the findability of web site content. This role will maintain the search engine optimization of CIHI’s website including execution of the on-page and off-page strategy, and performance analysis of the website. This role will also aid in determining the information structure for CIHI’s digital ecosystem.What you’ll do1. Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits and use findings to improve content organization, crawlability, and indexability.
2. Support the creation and implementation of SEO and information architecture standards; promote and maintain rules governing web site structure, site search, taxonomy, and content organization.
3. Monitor and evaluate website performance to make informed recommendations on optimizing search, navigation structures, labels, tags and content organization.
4. Provide and present recommendations about URL structure, schema markup, internal linking, robots.txt, and global navigation.
5. Perform keyword research in alignment with client objectives and business goals.
6. Write effective copy and SEO-related data, such as titles and descriptions.
7. Implement and maintain the enterprise Information Architecture strategy, which includes but is not limited to, content organization, labeling, navigation, search, taxonomy sheets, metadata, linking data and information architecture (IA) testing.
8. Prepare and present education outreach materials for stakeholders regarding policies, standards and best practices governing information architecture and SEO.
9. Stay informed on SEO best practices, and industry trends.
10. Participates and supports other relevant duties as required.What you’ll bring to the table

  • University degree in Computer Science, , Business, Marketing, , Information Architecture, Human Computer Interaction, Library and Information Sciences.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience applying SEO principles, including writing SEO-rich web copy, tags, titles and page descriptions.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting the content organization, labeling, navigation, search, taxonomy, and information architecture of a web site.
  • Experience producing site maps, search and navigational structures, taxonomy models, and other information architecture patterns
  • Fundamental knowledge of SEO principles: keyword research, on-page optimization, and technical SEO.
  • Strong familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, search algorithms, and ranking methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with delivering actionable customer insights and marketing effectiveness analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate/negotiate with various technology and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate and present effectively to both a technical and business audience at various levels.
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset
  • Ability to meet occasional travel requirements
