Students will be exposed to our GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy business, which provides a perfect opportunity for us to learn about you and your interests and for you to learn about GE and a career with us.Job DescriptionWhat impact you’ll makeField Engineering interns work onsite with and for our customers with legacy fleet reactors. You will provide immediate value as part of the outage team, servicing our customers’ reactors safely, effectively, and efficiently, to get them back on-line.What you’ll doCandidates will have the opportunity to work with experienced Field Service Engineers in a fast-paced, challenging environment performing maintenance and inspection activities on Boiling Water Reactors. Interns will attend entry level technical training, travel to domestic nuclear refueling outages and be assigned shorter duration projects at the Wilmington, NC site when not at outages. At outages, interns will be work as part of high-performance teams to perform safe and error-free work for our customers.What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate program with an engineering discipline as your primary major.
• Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).

• Prior internship or co-op in manufacturing, industrial or field engineering environments.

Other Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to be granted unescorted access at a commercial nuclear power plant.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% to domestic plant sites
• Ability and willingness to work 12 hours/day, shifts, and 7 days/week when needed for project delivery
• Basic mechanical aptitude is required. Must be able to read and understand equipment manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs twice per day
• Ability to pass respirator fit test and physical
• Ability to pass Fitness for Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access
• Ability to work under high stress conditions
• Ability and willingness to work in radiation-controlled areas and radioactively contaminated areas
• Must possess a valid passport
• This role is based in the U.S. and we are only considering applicants who meet the eligibility requirements under the Jay Treaty. Appropriate proof of eligibility under the Jay Treaty will be required.
