Reporting to Director, Marketing & International, Universal Music Canada is seeking an experienced International Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team. As a Marketing Manager, International you will oversee and direct all aspects of marketing across domestic artist campaigns, partnering with our labels, managers and artists to develop international marketing campaigns that strategize the best course to market for their releases.


Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of international marketing, project and product management for a roster of domestic artists
  • Create and manage marketing plans in conjunction with local label strategies outside of Canada. This includes awareness of different markets music culture, knowledge of regional and national print media, TV and radio programming, commerce impacts and communicating with local label reps on a regular basis.
  • Explore new digital platforms to develop relationships to maximize audience reach and build artist profile in Canada and globally
  • Consult with Marketing, A&R, Promotion, Creative, Digital Strategy, E-Commerce, and Publicity teams on rollout plans to maximize opportunities and exposure for each artist project
  • Build and manage smart marketing budgets that help deliver maximum visibility while also focusing on the highest return of investment
  • Manage international artist promotions, including: coordination of print media, TV shows, and radio appearances. Travel to various markets to work with artists and local reps responsible for press and other activities on the ground. Includes making sure that schedules are efficient and effective, radio and TV productions are up to par with requirements made by artist, and that local marketing initiatives have been properly rolled out ahead of trips.
  • Understand and leverage user engagement and marketing opportunities on digital platforms such as YouTube, VEVO, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok and more
  • Identify viral, digital, and word-of-mouth marketing opportunities with the goal of driving traffic to artist profiles across DSPs, fan acquisition, and building brand awareness for artists
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build and support artists’ brands
  • Oversee the execution of artist international commercial and promotional releases (photos and videos, content for social platforms, advertising assets, logos, website, street marketing tools, alternative song mixes, international specific credits and artwork and creating special packages.)
  • Continually evaluate consumer response data including streaming, radio, media and artist socials in order to make informed marketing decisions, staying proactive with appropriately designed campaigns
  • Know how to query and speak to specific data points that are meaningful to partner account relations and artist/manager expectations
  • Work cross-functionally across all departments and with artist management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Deep knowledge of analytical tools available on all social platforms and ability to pull actionable insights from the data available
  • Organize, prioritize and execute a wide range of tasks under tight deadlines
  • Creative, innovative, detail-oriented and resourceful
  • Must be tech savvy with deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and general market trends
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Must have strong music industry relationships and vision to work with in-house and 3rd party PR, Promo, Creative and Digital Marketing teams
  • 5+ years experience in music industry marketing
  • Understanding of the international music landscape with respect to media, e-commerce, and promotion.
  • Label experience preferred including strong knowledge in both Domestic and International repertoire

Reporting to the Senior Director, Digital Marketing, Universal Music Canada is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Manager to join our Digital Marketing team. This role will manage a roster of UMC’s artists and work alongside of the marketing manager in the creation and execution of digital marketing and promotional plan while also managing programs and multi-artist campaigns. Prime candidates have knowledge and experience working with all digital technologies and platforms, can effectively communicate with artists, artist management teams, internal teams & executives at UMC, digital partners, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Define, plan, and execute digital marketing campaigns for a roster of artists.
  • Manage strategic partnerships within the Digital Strategy team with an ability to manage the day-to-day tactics as well as the big picture strategy.
  • Work closely with the streaming and marketing teams to ideate, create, execute, and measure multi-artist campaigns with a focus on growing market share for select genres and developing artists fanbases in Canada.
  • Maintain strong relationships with artist management and artists to be viewed as a resource for best practices and implementing digital marketing strategies
  • Identify viral, digital word-of-mouth marketing opportunities with the goal of driving traffic, fan acquisition, and creating brand awareness for artists.
  • Drive social media growth for all artists through increased engagement, activity, and relevant content posts
  • Develop targeted strategies for artists’ video channels in collaboration with the video strategy manager
  • Actively participate in team meetings, discussions, and planning activities
  • Measure and analyze overall campaign performance and provide insights and key learnings to other departments.
  • Assist in analyzing online promotions and campaign sales impacts, consumer trends, etc.
  • Monitor campaigns regularly to understand effectiveness of strategy, making recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Report weekly to senior staff and managers, providing actionable insights and campaign updates

Requirements
  • Education and/or relevant experience
  • Deep knowledge of the Hip Hop and R&B genres and emerging talent within the respective scenes. You know the media, the tastemakers & influencers, the brands, the playlists, the online communities and all the places in the digital space where fans of the genres discover new artists and talent.
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • A skilled presenter, you can hold the attention of a large group of people and can clearly convey the subject matter in a concise and memorable way
  • Deep knowledge of the analytics available on all social platforms and the ability to pull actionable insights out of the data
  • Aptitude for communicating and engaging on various platforms
  • Experience and desire to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment and ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Highly adaptive to change
  • Consistently meet deadlines
  • Creative, self-starter with exceptional follow-up skills
