Job Description

PRN Pulmonary Technologist

The Pulmonary Technologist is responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures including pulmonary function testing and bronchoscopy procedures. The Pulmonary Technologist must be able to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusing capacities, and bronchoprovocation testing.
  • Sets up and assists with bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
  • Provides patient and family education on respiratory procedures.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Ensures proper functioning of equipment and troubleshoots as needed.
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) credentials preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in pulmonary testing and bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
