Why We Need You:

The Social Media Producer, Climate will work closely with the Social Media and Climate teams, and will be responsible for planning, creating, editing and publishing climate and sustainability content for The Weather Network’s main social media channels.You will play a vital role in developing our social media presence in the climate space, implementing our social media climate strategy to grow audiences, increase reach and foster engagement through content creation across our primary social media platforms.As Social Media Producer you will be fluent in our social media voice, embodying our brand values and vision as you adapt and reimagine our storytelling and identify opportunities to connect with online communities.

What’s the Day to Day Look Like:

  • Manage and maintain a social content calendar for the climate category, creating and scheduling relevant posts that engage audiences and support our social media climate content strategy.
  • Create custom and engaging video content for consumption on social media platforms.
  • Conceptualize and produce social media livestream content and events.
  • Contribute to the development of new social media accounts and audience-building, including best practices for climate content.
  • Inspire and engage people in our growing social media communities by responding to direct messages and comments in a timely manner.
  • Community management: Moderate social media accounts for spam activity and abusive comments and/or behavior.
  • Communicate and coordinate priorities with the Climate and Social Media teams.
  • Evaluate the impact of our social media efforts, delivering reports on performance and effectiveness using social media analytics tools and communicating results to the wider team.
  • Source and verify content for publishing on owned social media channels.
  • Stay abreast of trends, developments and opportunities in the social media space.
  • Build a network of influencers and contacts to help amplify climate content and messaging.

Qualifications (Must Haves):

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or equivalent level of experience.
  • Experience in climate and sustainability content creation and storytelling on digital platforms
  • Robust understanding of the social media landscape and platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
  • Working knowledge of digital platforms and analytics tools such as Sprout Social, Trello and Google Analytics.
  • Video and photo editing skills using programs such as Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Proficient with Google suite. Excellent organizational skills, communication skills and time management skills.
  • Understanding of multiple digital formats and SEO is an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems ex. – Brightcove and Pegasus video platforms Ability to work a flexible work week – weekend and evening work may be involved.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of key marketing partnerships, beginning with the development of strategic asset plans and taking it through the execution stage. Steward and leverage all asset inventory including tickets, team trips, consistent with company policy
  • Partner with Franchise Leadership on market specific business opportunities utilizing assets
  • Develop and communicate written briefs for use by agencies or suppliers (e.g., creative, advertising, packaging, consumer promotions, merchandising, etc.) to direct their work activities in order to generate concepts for effective execution of region marketing programs and objectives (e.g., drive trial, increase loyalty).   • Acts as subject matter expert to ensure all region POS, packaging, coupons etc, protect the company’s rights, trademarks and investment while serving the best interest of our customers and assets

Related Work Experience:
