  • Provide direction and training where required to production personnel, to assist machine operators in consistently meeting required production standards. Provide process control support.
  • In conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, develop and modify as required, Planned Maintenance Programs to ensure reliable cost effective performance of all processing, packaging and facilities equipment.
  • Prepare requisitions and source components for electronic/electrical materials as required. Assist in the determination of spare parts stock levels necessary for a reliable, economic operation.
  • Prepare job material lists and perform job costing regarding material and labour requirements.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel in the course of their work as necessary
  • Work shift assignments as required. Provide shift coverage when required
  • Provide remote support to plant operations as required and demonstrate a willingness to support the operation by participating in call-ins and on call hours.
  • Attend training courses/seminars to maintain technical skill level as related to electronics/electrical trade.
  • Using the work order system ensure time spent on tasks is accurately charged to the requesting cost centers or internal order numbers.
  • Assist Engineering as needed with capital/expense projects.
  • Perform job responsibilities in such a manner as to contribute to a team effort within the department assisting fellow employees in achieving the overall daily objectives of the work group.

This position supports Kwik Lok production activities through the manufacture of Kwik Lok closures with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes. This is a permanent, full-time, hourly, non-exempt position and reports directly to the Production Manager and Plant Manager.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Manages and/or works with all production departments, including but not limited to:
  • Extrusion;
  • Slitting;
  • Manufacturing/ production line
  • Food Safety Team Product safety (adhering to GFSI food safety standards and quality standards as required)
  • Oversee equipment maintenance/repair (including incorporating technological advancements).
  • Set up production machines to manufacture the correct Lok/label series and opening size per the Job Order specification and Production Schedule. Run sample of product and confirm proper setup of tooling. Inspect for proper pitch, gauge, Lok series, color, opening size and free of defects.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as requested per work orders and/or demand. Assist production equipment with machine adjustments daily as required for quality.
  • Account for all tools following maintenance, repair or setup of each machine. Wipe excess lubricants from production equipment and clean immediately area following maintenance, repair or setup of machine. Complete die set inspection and cleaning upon each die set change. Maintain and replace blades for label cutting machines.
  • Health and Safety.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of Kwik Lok production practices and Food Safety requirements.
  • Directly supervises staff as designated.
  • Looks for new ways of doing things; streamlining processes, making recommendations that will allow for increased productivity with less time.
  • Seeks feedback for personal development; accepts feedback, both positive and constructive to improve.
  • Follow all company established food safety and quality guidelines and procedures.
  • Additional functions as needed for the good of the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Production and/or mechanical/maintenance experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship
