This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an in-house role for a global organization. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and interested in developing expertise in nuances of public contracting, use of international labor, and related compliance issues (including cross-border data privacy issues). This role will have a specific and concentrated focus on conducting legal reviews and research in this area.The role will support our Business Area Counsel leading multiple North American Business Areas. The position’s hours are flexible and can be adapted to the Intern’s class schedule; with an expectation to be part-time during the academic year (approximately 10-20 hours per week) and potentially more hours per week during the Summer. Should the student wish to remain with the company beyond the Summer, there is potential for the internship to extend into subsequent semesters as work may require.Role accountabilities:Your primary work and responsibilities will include conducting contract reviews and legal research related to Arcadis’ use of Non-U.S. Labor on local projects. With the state of the World and political climate, along with a Global Organization performing work for U.S. public bodies using public funds, there is now greater scrutiny than ever on cross-border labor. The primary function of the position is to assist with reviewing contracts and law for possible prohibitions or conditional use of cross-border labor. The role will also entail assisting with developing a catalogue of findings for a robust library of the data compiled.Additional work could potentially include:

  • Perform miscellaneous legal research assignments as relates to construction, corporate, public contracting, design consultancy, privacy, and other laws.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of research findings as relates to various topics.
  • Support the team in responding to FOIA/OPRA requests.
  • Support the team in responding to subpoenas (for both document requests and testimony).
  • Assist in the issuance and management of legal holds.
  • Review basic legal documents, contracts, and transactional business information.
  • Assist with certain corporate governance and licensing.
  • Provide additional support to the Business Area Counsel as needed.
