Job description: Assurant is hiring for a Compliance Manager! Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer of Assurant Canada’s regulated entities, the Compliance Manager will have responsibilities to help ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and management of regulatory risk for Assurant’s Canadian insurance regulated and service entities. We are looking for someone who can manage increasingly complex rules and regulations and develop and implement effective compliance activities to mitigate risk. This position requires partnering with legal and business resources on proposed actions and coordinating activities across multiple teams.Broad based accountabilities/exposure for the right candidate include: Regulatory Compliance Management, Market Conduct, Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing, Licensing, Complaints, Outsourcing and Compliance Training Oversight.This role is open to remote working, but the role is required to be onsite in our Toronto office location once a month.What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?Regulatory Awareness and AdvisoryProvide proactive and timely communication of regulatory developments and compliance obligations (research of existing, amended, or new legislation/regulations) to stakeholders and take appropriate action to ensure compliance with new or amended regulations.Provide support to business including compliance reviews and fair treatment of customer assessments of new business initiatives, product development, customer collateral and training materials.
Ensure implementation and effectiveness of systems and controls.Evaluating and Assessing RiskAssist the Chief Compliance Officer with the development and implementation of an effective, flexible, risk-based compliance program.Conduct compliance risk assessments and internal investigations, as warranted.Facilitate fraud investigations with applicable business units including Legal and engaging the corporate Special Investigations Unit, as necessary.Identify, assess, and escalate risks to the Chief Compliance Officer and management as necessary, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.Testing and MonitoringResponsible for executing the compliance risk-based monitoring/testing program to ensure effective compliance controls are in place for business processes and initiatives.Policies, Procedures and Training DevelopmentCoordinate with the corporate Learning & Development department to develop effective compliance training programs to ensure consistent application and understanding of compliance policies.Develop and implement policies and procedures to help mitigate compliance risk.
Manage and maintain a robust Privacy Management program working closely with the corporate Privacy department.Assume the role of Compliance Liaison Officer for complaints supporting Operations and the internal Ombudsperson; responsible for ensuring the processes are in place to manage complaints are adhered to.ReportingProactive management of escalation of compliance risks and issues with both business and compliance function stakeholders.Assist the Chief Compliance Officer in reporting on regulatory compliance matters to senior management and the Chief Agent.Regulatory and Industry Association LiaisonCompliance is actively involved in industry associations i.e., CLHIA and CAFII. Job description: Reporting to the Regional Sales Director Canada, the Business Development Manager for Assurant Vehicle Protection Services will grow relationships through prospecting efforts, promoting F&I revenue growth opportunities to new dealer partners. At the same time, supporting Assurant’s existing automotive dealership partners within their predetermined territory, continuing our long standing focus of ensuring excellent dealer and customer satisfaction.   • Support and uphold Assurant VPS’s wonderful network of existing dealer partners within assigned geographic territory.
  • Execute regular and consistent in-person dealership visits and training with our dealer partners, scheduling appointments, preparing agendas and coaching initiatives, and ensuring appropriate support follow up.
  • Develop strategic growth plans for product development within assigned dealer partners, fostering the overall sales goals of our dealer partners.
  • Work with dealer partners to forecast sales targets and margin expectations to ensure overall financial and customer service goals are met or exceeded.
  • Build relationships and maintain strong communication with prospective dealer partners.
  • Provide dealerships with information on products and services, and perform continuous new partnership presentations to dealers within your territory to advance business development efforts.
  • Ensure all necessary dealership staff receive ongoing sales and claims training, education on new and existing products as part of Assurant’s commitment to our dealer partnerships.
  • Respond quickly and follow up often with accounts to ensure dealerships’ sales and claims needs are met, and any concerns are resolved quickly.
  • Work professionally with Assurant’s internal departments on a continual basis to guarantee all VPS team members can provide excellent customer service at every opportunity to our dealer partners.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 5+ Years of experience within the Automotive Industry in some aspect.
  • In-depth knowledge of Automotive F&I products and services is ideal.
  • Business Development experience, specifically in F&I Dealer Services or Automotive B2B territorial sales is an asset.
  • Able to complete day to day travel requirements throughout the assigned geography territory, allowing constant in-person support for our dealer partners and prospecting efforts.
  • Self-starter that demonstrates drive, able to adapt between independent and collaborative work; can achieve results under pressure.
  • Highly developed skills in sales and prospecting, relationship building, and able to cultivate new business partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of regularly used software; Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Teams, Zoom, etc.
