In response to the growing renewable energy market in Canada, WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialized in embankment dam engineering. The successful candidate will join the design team to support ongoing projects across Canada, based in our Vancouver office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design embankment dams, dykes, and cofferdams (new or rehabilitation works) and dam stabilization works, including parameter evaluation, geotechnical analyses, and preliminary design.

  • Conduct site inspections.

  • Perform Dam Safety Reviews of embankment dams, including inspection and monitoring of geotechnical instruments and data analysis/interpretation.

  • Develop detailed designs of embankment dams, including drawing supervision and specification preparation.

  • Provide technical support during construction.

  • Guide engineers, technicians, and drafting teams.

  • Ensure quality control of deliverables by participating in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and design reviews.

  • Support business development activities and team development.

  • Contribute to the growth of the business unit.

  • Perform other related tasks to enhance project execution and technical development of the business unit.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering with a specialization in dam engineering is an asset).

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province.

  • Proven experience in embankment dam engineering (geotechnical).

  • Experience in embankment dam inspection and Dam Safety Review.

  • Knowledge of legislation and guidelines related to dam safety.
