Joining a dynamic Audience Development team which drives audience and user growth for TVO’s full breadth of digital learning, current affairs and documentary offerings, and reporting to the Manager of Audience Development, this person will be responsible for a portfolio of social media channels, involved in planning as well as day-to-day technical and executional implementation and reporting.
How you will make an impact

  • Contribute to the achievement of organizational performance goals and audience growth by designing and executing creative social media solutions to attract, engage and retain more visitors, users, and donors to TVO and the TVO portfolio of products.
  • Develop, plan, manage and evolve a select portfolio of TVO social media channels, including ongoing monitoring, response, posting, and paid campaigns. Channels may include a mix of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and others.
  • Set up and use data to spot opportunities and optimize results, including ongoing tracking of social media progress in weekly reports linked to audience growth.
  • Collaborate with content, data, and product stakeholders; and design teams; to prepare and optimize posts and campaigns which drive user growth and engagement.
  • Author/Create posts with the objective of building audience and increasing conversion, while establishing a consistent voice and tone for channels.
  • Work alone (and sometimes with a media agency) to plan, execute, optimize and report on campaigns.
  • Act as subject matter expert on the topic of social media, social media channels, and best practices.
  • Identify emerging social media trends and platforms.
  • Coordinate budgets and process invoices related to audience growth and acquisition.

What you will bring to TVO

  • 3+ years experience in social media management, including a track record in delivering audience growth in multiple channels;
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms and the different strategies they require. Experience with YouTube, Facebook/Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and/or LinkedIn preferred.
  • Proven experience in planning, setting up, optimizing, and reporting on paid social campaigns, including paid audience targeting and conversion tracking.
  • Experienced and comfortable using a range of social media & social media analytics tools like Meltwater, Hootsuite, Buffer or similar.
  • Strong experience working in cross-functional teams and designing and managing projects to completion
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • A proven and effective community manager
  • A data-driven approach with a willingness to experiment and adapt to fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated desire for action with a positive energy and can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to build relationships to achieve results
  • Strong writing and communication skills

We are seeking a full-time or part-time, experienced Search Engine Optimization Specialist to join our dynamic digital marketing team. As SEO Specialist you will drive awareness and ROI via organic client acquisition tactics. Leveraging contemporary strategies in search engine marketing and growth-hacking techniques, the candidate will regularly optimize our website to help achieve department and company goals.

Responsibilities

Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization

Maintain and improve our Google Analytics tracking including but not limited to goals, events, custom segments and more.

Identify growth and/or optimization opportunities throughout the site and associated properties (i.e. YouTube channel)..

Actively identify, develop and execute backlinking strategies.

Track, analyze, and report on overall website organic performance and SEO initiatives on a weekly/monthly (or as needed) basis.

Assist with content creation and review process to better meet user intent and capture universal results.

Work with design and development teams to ensure implementation of SEO best practices (including but not limited to page speed, schema, image weight, naming conventions, etc.) Strategize ways to enhance website performance (website architecture, lead capture, CTR, CVR, etc.) and streamline SEO processes.

Keeping up to date with current SEO trends and strategies.

Requirements

Prior experience in content marketing, content growth, and SEO

Interest and at least basic knowledge of fintech and blockchain industries

Working knowledge of search engine optimization practices

Outstanding ability to think creatively, strategically, and identify and resolve problems

Excellent verbal and written communication skill

Proactive problem solver with the ability to prioritize tasks based on level of effort vs impact and company goals.

Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Knowledge of HTML, CSS and familiarity with Squarespace is required.

A track record of performance meeting targets and objectives.

Self-directed, goal-oriented and flexible, enjoying working in a fast-paced and at times challenging environment.

Good time-management skills and ability to work remotely with people from different time zones

English is the main language of FAS, fluency in speaking and writing is required. Other languages are a plus.

The Role

Reporting to the Vice-President, Communications, the Digital Communications Specialist plays an integral role on the small yet dynamic communications team at Postmedia. The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for coordinating projects and assisting the team with a variety of communication initiatives including: website and intranet management, social media monitoring, tool design and development all targeted at both internal and external audiences.

Ongoing high demand for communication support across Postmedia requires this employee to deliver communications and project-management support in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment while working on interesting, challenging and varied communication projects. A juggler with equal passion for words and technology would be ideal.

You can manage and prioritize multiple projects with ease, have a good sense of how to develop and adhere to corporate processes and you take pride in ensuring that communications projects remain on track while managing multiple, sometimes competing deadlines (see juggler note above). You collaborative approach, collegial attitude and can interact professionally and confidently with colleagues at all levels to understand and meet their needs. You are a curious problem solver with a creative approach to bridging gaps while delivering on objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Project Management, Analysis and Reporting – You’ll ensure that the team stays on track with project deliverables and prepare updates and reports that measure progress and analyze results.
  • Website management – You will develop content, editorial calendar and manage updates for both the corporate website and employee intranet. Requires proficiency with WordPress and SharePoint. Working knowledge of design and video editing software strongly preferred.
  • Media Monitoring – You will be responsible for the collection, development and distribution of a number of Daily News Briefs on specific topics of interest
  • Internal/Employee Communications & Event Planning – You will contribute to the planning of quarterly Employee Communications, developing materials as required. You will also assist in planning, logistics, and execution for internal employee events, both online and in-person.
  • Group email box management – timely reviewing, re-directing and/or responding to inquiries ensuring that outreach is addressed in a timely and professional manner consistently.

Who you are:

  • Training with a focus on Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or other related fields or a combination of training and experience.
  • 4-6 years related experience in an agency or corporate environment
  • Excellent business storytelling skills, creative problem solver, strong time management skills, detail-oriented, independent self-starter, strong interpersonal skills and sense of urgency, sound judgment, negotiation skills, and a commitment to exceptional client service under tight-timelines and with multiple deliverables
  • Ability work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment exercising tact, diplomacy, and discretion when managing confidential information
  • Experience with content writing, design, and planning across multiple platforms
  • Proficiency using visual design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premier Pro)
  • Understanding and interpretation of platform analytics

  • Proficiency with online polling platforms (e.g., Survey Monkey)
