Pearl West, a leading eCommerce investment and operating group specializing in acquiring, optimizing, and scaling premium Shopify brands, is seeking a Full Stack Developer Intern with a focus on Shopify development. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in full-stack eCommerce development within a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Location: Onsite at Pearl West headquarters in Vancouver, BC. Applicants must be located within the Vancouver area.
Type: Full-time internship open to students graduating or who have recently graduated.
Role Overview:
As a Full Stack Developer Intern (Shopify Focus), you will collaborate with our engineering and operations teams to develop and optimize Shopify storefronts. Your responsibilities will include:
- Custom Feature Development: Assist in developing Shopify functionalities using Liquid, JavaScript, and backend technologies.
- Checkout Enhancements: Support improvements to the checkout experience and cart features.
- API Integration: Work with developers to connect Shopify with third-party services like CRMs, analytics, and automation tools.
- Performance Optimization: Assist in identifying areas to improve site speed and user experience.
- Custom Theme Contributions: Contribute to UI/UX enhancements using modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Alpine.js.
- Debugging & QA Support: Help identify and fix bugs, test new features, and support app integrations.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with marketing and design teams to ensure development supports business goals.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Basic Requirements:
- Current student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and foundational backend knowledge (Node.js, Python, or Ruby).
- Interest or experience in Shopify development, eCommerce, or custom web applications.
- Familiarity with REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Passion for learning and solving problems through code.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Previous internship or side projects related to eCommerce platforms.
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Alpine.js).
- Exposure to Git, deployment pipelines, or cloud services.
