Qualifications :To be successful you will have:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field;
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or similar designation is considered an asset.
  • Possess strong knowledge and understanding of construction science, sequence of work, construction contracts, and Canadian/provincial building codes is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years in facility management or a related field;
  • Experience in bid and proposal development, work planning, cost estimating and government contracting.
  • Experience in facility management and operations on military bases would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation and standards pertaining to facility management, construction, sustainability and energy efficiency is required.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices sufficient to lead cross-functional teams and consultants, including budget and schedule control and planning work programs.
  • Sound judgment, highly developed interpersonal skills, well-developed organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • You will work in the onsite field office, calculating quantities, help prepare monthly payments, finalization of contract items and perform general office work
  • you will perform, inspect and provide detailed reporting for quality assurance (QA) acceptance of civil, architectural, structural, process mechanical, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation inspections including installations and testing activities.
  • You will evaluate contractor performance and verify those project deliverables, and quality standards are achieved and in compliance with the Contract documents
  • You will maintain regular communication with the project team regarding project status, site issues, project quality assurance and resolve issues, as required.
  • you will maintain a detailed daily diary of contractor’s work, contract progress and inspection milestones
  • You will verify that the contractor applies the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • You will have a working understanding of water and wastewater treatment facilities

What you’ll bring to WSP …

  • Engineering Diploma or Technology/Technical Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role and In-depth knowledge of the construction industry standards and guidelines.
  • Experience on small and large vertical infrastructure projects – with specific experience in water treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs and transfer facilities
