The Construction Advisory – Surety division primarily consults on construction projects in which a contract default has occurred. This allows for a unique opportunity to investigate the causes behind project defaults and work with our clients to develop solutions.The successful candidate will develop fundamental skills to the construction industry through the analysis of contracts, schedules, drawings, and costs. Opportunities will also be available to visit multiple active construction sites and track their progress throughout the duration of the co-op term.Job Responsibilities:

  • Detailed review of construction contracts, drawings, and specifications
  • Visiting construction sites alongside supervisors and recording information regarding site conditions
  • Attend various meetings with clients, project owners, general contractors, and subcontractors
  • Detailed review of progress draws, invoices, and supporting documentation related to labour and materials
  • Analysis of project costs
  • Project schedule review and analysis
  • Collaboratively developing recommendations for our clients
  • Intermittent administrative duties

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

  • In the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline such as Structural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical etc.
  • Able to commute to Etobicoke, Ontario (East of Pearson Airport)
  • A commercial or contract mindset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Advanced skills preferred, especially in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to write technical documents
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Excellent communication, mathematical and organizational skills
  • Strong investigating, problem solving, and analytical skills.
