Job description: Senior Systems Administrator – Contract – 17830About the OpportunityOur reputable Ottawa client is looking for a versatile Senior Systems Administrator to join their team starting in early January. This would be a role for a resource who has experience working with various different systems and has expertise working in mid-large Infrastructures. To ensure success in the role, you should have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, experience supporting back-office systems and infrastructure, and strong collaboration skills. The selected candidate can work remotely.Duties include but are not limited to:
- Administration and support of the local and cloud network, infrastructure, security, collaboration and communication of business application systems
- Manage physical, virtual and cloud servers, including e-mail, print, application and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software
- Conduct research and participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure software, hardware and services
- Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches
- Provide support directly to end users for level 3 incidents and service requests
- Maintain effective lines of communication with other IT groups and work with these groups to ensure unresolved problems are handled in an expedient manner, problem trends are identified, and root causes eliminated
About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
- Post-secondary graduate in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Extensive System Administration skills specifically in Microsoft environments
- At least 7 years of work experience with administration of a large (more than 400 users) network and devices with experience working with users to assist them with their service requirements
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office 365 desktop, web and mobile applications including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, and OneDrive
- Extensive experience with Microsoft M365 exchange/teams, Intune, Defender etc
- Advanced knowledge and experience of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other standard security tools and practices including Fortinet, Microsoft and Sophos
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure & local Active Directory and multi-factor authentication
- Advanced knowledge and experience with system administration scripting ie. Microsoft PowerShell
- Above average analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Very good interpersonal and documenting skills
- Ability to speak French and English fluently is preferred

About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or another relevant discipline
- 3+ years’ experience in a content development or an instructional design role
- Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of learning management systems, such as Docebo
- Advanced skills in graphic design, animation and video creation using tools like Adobe After Effects, Camtasia, Vyond and Adobe Premiere Pro
- Understanding of adult learning principles for a global audience and the unique needs of adult learners, particularly in the context of online learning
- Knowledge of online design and delivery best practices
- Project Management experience in the areas of instructional design and online course development
- Current knowledge of educational literature in the areas of online learning, instructional design, and student learning
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of learning management systems, educational technologies, and software applications as they relate to pedagogical appropriateness and the application for online teaching and learning
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English
- Strong sense of creativity with the ability to write meaningful and motivational content
