What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, such as a specialization in metallography, materials sciences, material testing, engineering, or related discipline or equivalent formal education OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and has more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
  • Experience
  • One (1) to three (3) years of pertinent technological experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing and etching metal specimens.

  • Must pass a manipulator test.

  • Must possess good judgment and communication skills [oral and written].

  • Direct experience in a nuclear environment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining, Electronics, Radiation Protection, or certification in a skilled technical trade would be an asset.
  • Strong math skills are required to ensure accuracy with Nuclear Accounting.
  • Reliability and attendance records of applicants will be scrutinized and considered in this competition.
  • Working knowledge of metallurgical techniques, microscopic imaging and macroscopic imaging.
  • Hot cell manipulator operation is considered an asset.
  • Hoisting and rigging, flask transfers, transporting dangerous goods, and hot cell operation are considered assets.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret with SASC requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. Working Conditions:

  • Work with hands in the hot cell Facility.
