The focus will be on research, modeling, and analysis of engine performance and non-CO2 climate impacts, particularly how these are quantified in engine performance.Key tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Advanced Performance team in evaluating engine performance of current and future products.
  • Develop expertise in aviation climate science and metrics appropriate for engine design.
  • Review and improve existing aviation non-CO2 climate modeling methods within P&WC, particularly for contrails.
  • Contribute to developing an engine performance modeling framework for non-CO2 effects.
  • Quantify the effects of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Hydrogen on non-CO2 engine performance.
  • Execute engine cycle simulations to evaluate non-CO2 performance metrics.
  • Create and deliver presentations at team meetings (in person and teleconference).

What you need to be successful:Must haves:

  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable
  • Pursuing a degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, applied computing, software engineering, sustainable development, engineering physics, aerospace engineering, or similar.
