Reporting to the Director, Experiential Education & Community Engagement, the Manager will be responsible for leading the launch, development, and expansion of the UTM Co-op Internship Program. The incumbent will oversee ongoing research, planning, and promotion in support of the Program, including preparing program modification proposals for governance review, evaluating labour market trends and identifying partnership opportunities, managing stakeholder relationships, developing and assessing the student preparatory program, and ensuring alignment with CEWIL Canada accreditation guidelines. The Manager will work in close consultation with senior leadership in the Office of the Dean, the Office of the Registrar, and UTM academic units to plan the strategic direction for the UTM Co-op Internship Program in adherence to curriculum, governance, accreditation, and registrarial processes. They will also liaise with tri-campus partners, including the Tri-Campus Co-op Partnership, to ensure that the Program is integrated with, and takes full advantages of, the centralized resources available to support co-op across divisions at U of T. The Manager will also work in coordination with our campus partners to ensure that the UTM Co-op Internship program serves the needs of UTM’s diverse student population.
You will contribute to the mission by:
- Supporting the Director, Experiential Education & Community Engagement in the development and execution of a multi-year strategy for the delivery of UTM’s Co-op Internship Program.
- Supporting the vision, values, and strategic direction of the Experiential Education Unit (EEU) and understanding how the unit’s efforts contribute to the goals and objectives of the UTM EL Mission Statement and U of T.
- Leading the development and continued enhancement of Work-Integrated Learning curricular resources, including a preparatory program, communications plan, and associated student- and employer-facing marketing materials.
- Analyzing, synthesizing, and disseminating complex program data, including enrollment targets, retention rates, student and employer evaluation data and recruitment cycle statistics, U of T applications rates, application to interview and interview to offer conversion rates), for the purposes of program evaluation and strategic planning.
- Preparing reports on UTM’s co-op internship portfolio, including metrics of assessment and evaluation on all programs, services and resources delivered through the program.
- Compiling data on employer relations and program activity that will be used in sessional and annual reports, incorporating data analyses and assessments of goal attainment.
- Coordinating and evaluating business development, employer relations, marketing, and communications strategies to maximize job opportunities across the range of disciplines within UTM’s co-op internship program and to achieve program goals.
- Working collaboratively with other U of T co-op and internship program offices to develop cohesive marketing and employer relations strategies that help leverage the strengths of the institution and position U of T as a leader in work-integrated learning and a preferred recruiting destination for employer partners.
- Leading the implementation and roll out of experiential learning management software to manage program activities, liaising with relevant campus stakeholders including Information & Instructional Technology.
- Managing program staff.
What you will bring to the role:
- A University degree in a relevant discipline and/or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ full-time, relevant, progressively more senior experience working directly in co-operative education at the post-secondary level.
- Experience managing staff with a strong understanding of collective agreement administration and managing in a unionized environment.
- In depth knowledge of careers, jobs, workplace standards, recruitment and hiring practices.
- In depth knowledge of Work-Integrated Learning and curriculum development.
- Experience developing strategic business development plans, developing and implementing programs and events.
- Experience in relationship management and project management.
- A good understanding of the student and employer market and managerial/leadership competencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills, with experience in training and presenting to a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels.
