Are you ready to go beyond?Internship dates: Sept 3rd to December 20th 2024Location: MississaugaCheck out our YouTube channel:Our website:Our expectations:Develop analytical methods to quantify the non-CO2 climate impacts of aircraft and use these methods with engine performance models to evaluate environmental impact of current and future technologies.What your day to day will look like:The student will be part of the advanced performance engineering team and will have access to the experience, tools, and data available within this organization. The focus will be on research, modeling, and analysis of engine performance and non-CO2 climate impacts, particularly how these are quantified in engine performance.Key tasks may include but are not limited to:
- Support the Advanced Performance team in evaluating engine performance of current and future products.
- Develop expertise in aviation climate science and metrics appropriate for engine design.
- Review and improve existing aviation non-CO2 climate modeling methods within P&WC, particularly for contrails.
- Contribute to developing an engine performance modeling framework for non-CO2 effects.
- Quantify the effects of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Hydrogen on non-CO2 engine performance.
- Execute engine cycle simulations to evaluate non-CO2 performance metrics.
- Create and deliver presentations at team meetings (in person and teleconference).
What you need to be successful:Must haves:
- Be eligible to work in Canada
- Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship
- Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable
- Pursuing a degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, applied computing, software engineering, sustainable development, engineering physics, aerospace engineering, or similar.
