Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engagement & Lifecycle Marketing, the Senior Communications Officer, Engagement & Lifecycle Marketing, initiates, creates, plans, produces and implements digital marketing strategies and tactics in support of CBC’s digital engagement and membership objectives, with a focus on our streaming platforms, CBC Gem and CBC Listen. Working on the Engagement & Lifecycle Marketing team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to build multi-channel lifecycle strategies, using email, push notifications, newsletters and more.
Work must conform to and respect CBC program and journalistic policies, standards and practices, as well as the ethics related to advertising standards. There is an expectation of initiative, integrity and creativity, as well as the requirement to demonstrate good judgment.

Key tasks:
Plan, create, manage and monitor digital marketing activities across a variety of platforms in support of CBC’s membership and engagement objectives.
Assist in writing, creating and implementing basic and advanced digital media (including email, push notifications, newsletters), internal tutorials and training, and maintain shared resources (best practices, analytics reports, tracking documents).
Identify marketing strategies to deepen engagement with existing CBC audiences, create tailored digital marketing experiences, and explore and recommend marketing strategies for emerging channels.
Working with customer lifecycle analysts, coordinate regular reporting on marketing activities in support of audience benchmarks and network-wide KPIs for engagement, retention, cross-sell and winback.
Identify and define audience segments to be used in targeted marketing tactics.
Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, always-on environment; pitching ideas and working with the broader CBC Marketing team on tent-pole and ongoing campaigns.
As required, research information regarding special projects, new initiatives and administrative matters.
As required, liaison with platform/channel partners and agencies to build relationships, successfully execute projects and enhance the CBC brand within the digital marketing sector.
Other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University degree or college diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, or related discipline.
More than five years of experience in communications, promotions, and marketing, primarily focused on digital initiatives.
Experience creating audience-facing marketing, communications or editorial materials, writing or adapting existing copy and selecting appropriate promotional imagery.
An understanding of marketing analytics and customer lifecycle / marketing funnel strategies, as well as experience with audience segmentation.
Experience delivering training and presentations related to digital marketing and communications campaigns.
Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking, with a test-and-learn mindset.
Active, highly skilled (as required) and highly familiar with digital marketing industry standards and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and as a collaborative member of a team or cross departmental teams.
Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate the complexities of established, new and emerging digital platforms and products.
Excellent planning and organizational ability.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task and manage high volumes of incoming information through numerous channels.
Ability to provide off-hours coverage (evenings, weekends, etc.) when needed.
Ability to travel as required.
Demonstrated knowledge of CBC content and brand.
Ability to provide support in a variety of roles in a team environment.
