Joining a dynamic Audience Development team which drives audience and user growth for TVO’s full breadth of digital learning, current affairs and documentary offerings, and reporting to the Manager of Audience Development, this person will be responsible for a portfolio of social media channels, involved in planning as well as day-to-day technical and executional implementation and reporting.
How you will make an impact

  • Contribute to the achievement of organizational performance goals and audience growth by designing and executing creative social media solutions to attract, engage and retain more visitors, users, and donors to TVO and the TVO portfolio of products.
  • Develop, plan, manage and evolve a select portfolio of TVO social media channels, including ongoing monitoring, response, posting, and paid campaigns. Channels may include a mix of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and others.
  • Set up and use data to spot opportunities and optimize results, including ongoing tracking of social media progress in weekly reports linked to audience growth.
  • Collaborate with content, data, and product stakeholders; and design teams; to prepare and optimize posts and campaigns which drive user growth and engagement.
  • Author/Create posts with the objective of building audience and increasing conversion, while establishing a consistent voice and tone for channels.
  • Work alone (and sometimes with a media agency) to plan, execute, optimize and report on campaigns.
  • Act as subject matter expert on the topic of social media, social media channels, and best practices.
  • Identify emerging social media trends and platforms.
  • Coordinate budgets and process invoices related to audience growth and acquisition.

What you will bring to TVO

  • 3+ years experience in social media management, including a track record in delivering audience growth in multiple channels;
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms and the different strategies they require. Experience with YouTube, Facebook/Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and/or LinkedIn preferred.
  • Proven experience in planning, setting up, optimizing, and reporting on paid social campaigns, including paid audience targeting and conversion tracking.
  • Experienced and comfortable using a range of social media & social media analytics tools like Meltwater, Hootsuite, Buffer or similar.
  • Strong experience working in cross-functional teams and designing and managing projects to completion
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • A proven and effective community manager
  • A data-driven approach with a willingness to experiment and adapt to fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated desire for action with a positive energy and can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to build relationships to achieve results
  • Strong writing and communication skills

The Senior Manager, Communications & Public Affairs, (Therapeutic Area (TA) and Field communications) is primarily responsible for effective, strategic counsel and communications related to select TAs, including issues management and support for policy communications in our Janssen Canada business. In this role, the individual will support the strategy development and lead the execution of integrated and holistic TA communications plans while supporting issues that span the Canadian pharmaceuticals business, in addition to other accountabilities as assigned.

The position will report to the Lead, Public Affairs & Communications Canada. The position will work closely with colleagues across Communications and Public Affairs, in close partnership with the Legal, regulatory, compliance and commercial teams respectively.

Responsibilities:

  • As a therapeutic lead for the business, provide strategic oversight to critical brand and field communications
  • Serve as single point of contact for all communications needs and collaborate with other communications colleagues (e.g., global, external stakeholder, content, corporate, etc.) to provide strategic communications counsel to the Canadian Pharmaceutical business
  • Develop and execute strategies to inform, engage and align employees to our Janssen Canada business strategy and share an aligned narrative, highlighting the connection between the global, North American and Canadian strategies
  • Protect and enhance the reputation and equities of our portfolio of brands by providing strategic counsel on the Public Relations, Public Affairs and Influencer Marketing strategies, as well as partnering on issues/crisis communication programming ensuring alignment with Global Communications & Public Affairs
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Canadian media landscape (traditional and digital) including key stakeholders, emerging trends and opportunities to differentiate our brand/TA narrative through innovative communications approaches
  • Support and contribute to an integrated Public Affairs team approach (government affairs, communications & stakeholder engagement)
  • Support the Leader, Communication & Public Affairs in developing and maintaining strong relationships with government affairs and stakeholders to amplify and protect the reputation of Janssen business in Canada.
  • Lead measurement of communications efforts by overseeing reporting compiled by the communications agencies, assisting in the roll-out of new measurement tools, and providing recommendations to optimize plans based on insights and key learning
  • Maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional internal and external partners (e.g., commercial, medical, regulatory, legal, etc.)
  • Liaise with the Global Communications teams to share insights and key learning

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a matrix environment and driving results through influence.

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Proven track records in managing multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Experience dealing with national and local media, trade and social media, and/or professional/trade and third-party organizations would be an asset

We’re looking for a self-motivated content creator who is full of ideas and not afraid to pick up the phone to find answers, interview about sensitive subjects and find that detail that makes a story sing. We’re looking for a critical thinker who can spot emerging trends and issues that will help us frame our story as a leader in health care. This position also supports internal communications as needed.

The Communications Advisor will report to the Manager of Media and Digital Strategy and work closely with our Senior Communication Advisors supporting our quality, research and education, and clinical portfolios across our network.


RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Generate ideas, write and develop stories and campaigns that demonstrate the commitments in our Strategic Plan and promote our brand.
  • Oversee the daily scheduling and posting for our social media calendar.
  • Monitor our social media channels for emerging issues, including issues management
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to requests and incoming questions from the public
  • Work with our media relations team to identify and pitch story ideas to journalists
  • Collect and analyze social media analytics to guide content strategy
  • Work collaboratively within the Communications and Public Affairs team, the Foundation and with other departments throughout the network.
  • Special projects and other strategic communication duties as assigned, including event support, producing internal communication assets, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in journalism, public relations, communications, or related area.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience required.

  • Strong, clear writer and editor; must have ability to ensure error-free materials.
