We are looking for a dedicated intern to join our team of imaging scientists and software engineers for an exciting and ambitious internship. In this position, you will lead the exploration of innovative computer vision techniques for pathology image analysis and devise novel deep learning algorithms with potential applications in the broader healthcare regime. You will be connected with other interns from various analytics teams across the organization and work on an innovative project in digital pathology by applying advanced analytics and machine learning approaches to the company’s real-world imaging data.Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders to evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision techniques and applications in pathology image analysis, particularly with deep-learning and machine-learning approachesDevise, implement and interpret deep learning algorithms to address selected research questions in digital pathologyProactively share findings and knowledge to support the development of the wider Roche communityHelp shape the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence within Roche.Who You Are:Must be enrolled in a MSc/PhD program in Biomedical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field; PhD candidate preferred.Preferred:In-depth knowledge of machine learning and deep learning, with a focus on imaging data, especially biomedical imaging.Experience with omic data analysis and large language model (LLM) or multimodal analysis is advantageous.Proficiency in parallelization, HPC cluster computing, Python, deep learning frameworks, and reproducible research practices (like Git).Strong communication and collaboration skills, coupled with a passion for applying machine learning to healthcare.Preferred experience includes publications in top conferences/journals and contributions to open source projects.Additional Information:Duration (4 months), work term (Full time) and will begin in May of 2025.Location: Based in Mississauga, Ontario.Our team follows a hybrid work structure (minimum 3 days in the office).This position is not eligible for relocation support.#SummerInternship2025Who we areAt Roche, more than 100,000 people across 100 countries are pushing back the frontiers of healthcare.
