The Junior Structural CAD Technologist is required to apply specialized and/or advanced engineering principles at conceptual and detailed level. - Assist the Lead Structural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost, and schedule
- Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required
- Perform conceptual layout work
- Develop design details
- Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines
- Perform clash detection of 3D models with other discipline models
- Participation in formal engineering review processes
- Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
- Construction supervision dependent upon project demands
- Incorporate safety in design
Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):
- Associates degree or diploma in Civil/Structural Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D structural designer software packages (knowledge of Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk Revit preferred)
- Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred
- Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
- Have demonstrated technical aptitude
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges
