  • Design, deploy, and maintain SQL Server databases supporting C#/.NET Core applications.
  • Perform routine tasks such as backups, indexing, health checks, and disaster recovery drills.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using tuning and analytics tools.
  • Lead incident resolution and root cause analysis for SQL-related issues

Azure Cloud Platform Management

  • Administer and optimize Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and related Azure data services.
  • Use services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Monitor for data workflows and observability.
  • Plan and perform migrations of on-premise databases to Azure cloud environments.

DevOps and Infrastructure Automation

  • Build CI/CD pipelines integrating database deployment processes using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Terraform.
  • Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform) to manage provisioning, scaling, and operational tasks.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices for database and cloud resource management.

Development Collaboration & Performance Tuning

  • Work with software developers to design and refine database schemas, stored procedures, and queries.
  • Review and optimize T-SQL code and provide performance recommendations.
  • Contribute to version-controlled database change management strategies.

Automation and Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for database management tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages.
  • Implement automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve database issues.

Compliance, Security and Monitoring

  • Enforce best practices for database security, including encryption, access control, and auditing.
  • Support compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments and security reviews.

Capacity Planning and Scaling and Documentation

  • Monitor capacity and usage trends; forecast and plan for future scale requirements.
  • Manage partitioning and sharding strategies for high-volume systems.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, policies, and architectural decisions.

Automation and Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for database management tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages.
  • Implement automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve database issues.

Research and Innovation

  • Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve database performance, security, and manageability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration.
  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure automation, or cloud operations.
  • Deep expertise in T-SQL, performance tuning, and SQL Server internals.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and Azure DevOps tools.
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Terraform, or Azure CLI.
  • Experience with Azure networking for databases (VNet service endpoints, private endpoints).
  • Working knowledge of containerized SQL deployments (e.g., SQL Server in Docker for dev/test

environments).

  • Understanding of data governance principles including classification, retention, and masking policies.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native tools and services for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep).
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and CI/CD strategies.
  • Familiarity with database change management tools like Flyway, Redgate, or Liquibase
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified:
