Job Description:
As a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join their team. The role involves installing, programming, configuring, commissioning, and servicing fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.
- Collaborate with the project manager to resolve discrepancies and coordination issues affecting installation activities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Interpret complex blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Coordinate installation activities with all trades to optimize installation time.
- Attend all required site meetings.
- Instruct and train customers on the functional operation of equipment/systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by maintaining consistent communication with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete project documentation promptly.
- Adhere to all OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of a college diploma in Fire Protection or Electrical/Electronic fields, or be a Licensed Electrician.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
- Strong communication and report/document writing skills.
- Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
- Ability to obtain and retain any licenses required by national, state, and local codes.
- Physical capability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50–70 lbs.
- Ability to work in various positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Flexibility to work hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Demonstrated high level of customer service.
- Ability to lead and work well with team members.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a quick learning ability.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Willingness to travel overnight as required.
Preferred:
- Priority will be given to ASTTBC-registered Fire Protection Technicians and Certified Electricians.
