That’s why SickKids Foundation is looking for a new Manager, Philanthropy.Position Status: Permanent Full-TimeAvailable: ImmediatelyDescription of the Position:The Manager, Philanthropy is an integral part of the Philanthropy (Major Gifts) team at SickKids Foundation (Foundation). In this role, the Manager will identify, build and manage productive relationships with key stakeholders and donors to secure support for the Precision Child Health Campaign. The Manager will focus on donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities and support volunteers to activate their relationships in support of SickKids.The manager will oversee a portfolio of new and existing donors, serving as strategy lead for a donor affinity group (Breakthrough Fund) and collaborating with other Foundation colleagues to develop opportunities and initiatives to engage major donors.You will:
- Manage a portfolio of 100 to 150 major gift donors and prospects with the capacity to make a gift of $100,000.00 or more
- Complete donor calls and visits to cultivate, solicit, steward, and provide ongoing relationship management to donors
- Play a key role in working with senior volunteers, colleagues (Hospital and Foundation) and researchers to identify individual donor prospects; develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for donor prospects
- Lead and manage our Breakthrough Fund, a venture-philanthropy fund that engages donors to support SickKids research
- Support strategies to engage diverse donor communities
- Assist in the business planning process for the Philanthropy team
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in Marketing, Corporate and Community Partnerships, and Leadership & Legacy Giving to advance donor relationships
- Work closely with the appropriate Foundation teams with regards to gift administration, brand marketing and communication, research and analytics, proposal development, recognition and stewardship
- Develop a network of contacts interested in advancing the mission and success of SickKids Foundation and The Hospital for Sick Children
Required SkillsQualifications:While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- Five (5) plus years of experience in fundraising with a minimum of three (3) years in a major gift fundraising capacity
- Track record of soliciting and closing gifts at the $100,000.00 to $1M+ level
- Experience developing engagement strategies or exposure to venture capital will be considered an asset
- Gift Planning experience would be considered an asset
- Experience building new and long-term relationships with prospects, donors, and senior volunteers
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and multi-task
- Creative, resourceful, cost-efficient, and intuitively driven
- The ability to think strategically and work independently in directing new initiatives or enhancing existing programs
- Superior storytelling, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
- Organized, detailed oriented, with strong follow-through
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft 365); and experience with data management systems (Blackbaud CRM)
