The focus of this Toronto based role will be on underwriting transactional risk insurance products, specializing in Representations and Warranties (R&W) insurance. This position will provide in-depth exposure to M&A transactions and the insurance industry in an entrepreneurial environment.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review of public and private M&A transactions, including analysis of risk, reviewing transaction documents, financial statements, diligence reports and conducting discussions with deal team members as part of underwriting transactional risk insurance products.
  • Prepare quotes and policies for R&W insurance of M&A transactions.
  • Manage a pipeline of M&A transaction opportunities that are seeking the use of R&W insurance.
  • Support Senior Underwriters on all aspects of the deal process.
  • Assist with development of marketing materials and internal and external presentations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in law, business, economics or finance.
  • Related work experience within the insurance sector or other financial institutions is considered an asset.
  • General understanding of deal structures and processes is helpful and a strong desire to learn about M&A transactions.
  • Demonstration of strong work ethic will be critical.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to collaboratively work with others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly focused, enthusiastic and creative thinker.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management skills.
  • General knowledge of and ability to comprehend financial statements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce is a plus.
