  • Support the Director, Corporate Communications to develop communications strategies and tactics as required with a specific lens on TVO as a philanthropic organization, including but not limited to crafting issue management narratives, key messages, press releases and other corporate communications, as needed.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies and tactics to support solicitation, recognition and stewardship activities and those activities that indirectly support new donor acquisition.
  • Conceptualize, draft and edit content that supports the organization to communicate TVO’s purpose with audiences, especially with donors, including but not limited to funding proposals, impact reports, newsletters, campaign emails, statements, key messages, interview briefings, press releases, promotional materials, leadership giving, social content and Annual Reports
  • Contribute to the development of fundraising concepts and messaging for TVO channels.
  • Write philanthropic copy and communications across multiple channels.
  • Collect and catalogue viewer impact stories.
  • Interview viewers, donors and others to illustrate the impact of TVO.
  • Create and edit all philanthropy content on TVO websites.
  • Write funding proposals.
  • Develop compelling stories and case studies that highlight the impact of the organization’s philanthropic efforts and work in partnership with Marketing and other departments to integrate these stories into existing TVO messaging.
  • Ensure all communications align with the organization’s brand voice and messaging.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Provide regular reports on communication activities and outcomes to the Philanthropy department and senior leadership.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to enhance overall organizational communication.

What you will bring to TVO

  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in the field of Journalism, English, Communications, Fundraising, Public Relations, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate communications or related roles, specifically where the primary responsibilities included writing.
  • Minimum of three years of experience writing in support of fundraising and/or campaigns with proven results, including writing direct mail.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit environment
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills, including editorial, copy-editing, and proof-reading skills.

Reporting to the Manager of Product Experience, you will be responsible for user experience design to enhance existing TVO experiences big and small — and to create new ones.The UX designer will be responsible for creating a user journey through our products. Working cross-functionally with product, marketing, content and development teams the UX designer helps bring solutions to life with detailed wireframes and interaction designs. These solutions will be based on a deep understanding of user needs and behaviours, best practices and organizational goals.How you will make an impact

  • Collaborate with teams to understand their user experience goals, especially as it relates to usability and engagement
  • Create site maps, wireframes, labeling systems, navigation systems, search systems, mock ups and other artifacts in your area of expertise
  • Design the user experience of assigned portions of TVO digital products to the prescribed style guide
  • Brainstorm and develop storyboards and create layouts of creative visual content
  • Participate in user research activities, including, interviews, surveys, prototype testing and data analysis
  • Write technical summaries, creative documents and other reports in your area of expertise
  • Collaboration with Product Managers, Web and Mobile Developers and QA Analysts to deliver the planned user experience
  • Create and maintain specifications and documentation
  • Adapt to and learn new practices, techniques and technologies
  • Work cross-functionally with other TVO departments to ensure accessibility compliance and best practices
  • Help to establish and adhere to user experience standards and practices as they relate to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Stay abreast of trends in information design including conducting research into current and emerging techniques, standards and practices

What you will bring to TVO
