A summary of a few of our projects can be found on our website at .As a co-op student for our Water Engineering department, you will have the immediate opportunity to contribute to water and wastewater design and planning projects. The successful candidate will support engineering staff on multiple tasks including process design calculations, developing and utilizing hydraulic models to support planning and optimization projects, report writing as well as site investigations and asset inventories. Other tasks such as proposal support and site inspection may be required throughout the term.Primary Responsabilities

  • Participating in design of water and/or wastewater processes for a variety of water, wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects through preparation of design calculations and equipment selection
  • Develop and utilize hydraulic models (e.g. InfoWater Pro, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, etc.) to support planning and optimization projects
  • Prepare sketches, renderings, technical figures, and calculations for engineering reports and presentations as required
  • Document, track, and address design comments and drawing markups
  • Verifying compliance of drawings with appropriate standards, codes, and guidelines
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering specifications, calculations, and permit applications
  • Assist in facility inspections
  • Carry out planning or problem solving for water systems
  • Technical report writing
  • Proposal preparation
  • Site inspection, as required
  • Carry out research assignments, as required
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The salary for this position ranges from $23.75 to $29.40 per hour, depending on your academic profile, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience.
