Job Description

We are looking for a Performance Marketing Digital Sales Rep for Star Metroland Media (a division of Torstar)

Your primary objective is to lead our Sales efforts working directly with clients or assisting Torstar Sales Professionals in sales meetings as the Subject Matter Expert to nurture existing accounts and develop new business.

You must excel at interdepartmental alliances, establish clear lines of communication with clients, sales support teams, and internal sales teams.

The ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge of and experience with the sales process, digital products, excelling at lead generation, internal and external relationship building.

We’re seeking a quick learner with exceptional verbal, written and negotiating skills – someone with a proven track record of success who can inspire the same in others.

Objectives of this Role

  • Prospect and develop new business opportunities and grow existing accounts through prior relationships, and networking
  • Work strategically with other sales reps, manage client direct relationships within assigned territories to identify and secure new digital opportunities within your category
  • Conduct and facilitate inspiring training sessions.
  • Be a trusted digital expert – attend client meetings, lead four legged calls as the digital expert, drive digital in a compelling and understandable manner, and handle objections as required.
  • Meet and exceed individual weekly and monthly sales activities and goals
  • Keep current up with current industry trends
  • Strong understanding of marketing and media strategies.
  • Experience in programmatic ad sales is an asset, combined with a proven history of providing recommendations based on client objectives.

  • An enthusiastic learner and leader
  • Experienced in digital media sales
  • An effective communicator that delivers solutions for client’s objectives
  • Educated in digital advertising, with the ability to convey that knowledge in a compelling and understandable manner
  • Proactive and engaged in campaign management
  • Knowledgeable in email marketing
  • A collaborative team member, comfortable working with cross-functional teams to develop integrated sales solutions
  • Familiar with CRM platforms and other tools to record, track and plan and forecast sales activity
  • Passionate about data, targeting capabilities, attribution
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and the opportunities within Audio, Video, Social, Search, Mobile, Native and Content
  • Create and execute a strategic sales proposal that meets the customer needs
  • Meet virtually with potential clients and grow relationships by understanding their needs
  • Train, coach, and monitor performance of internal sales reps
  • Identify knowledge gaps within the team and develop a plan to fulfill them
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • 5+ years in sales within a corporate setting
  • Proven track record of successful selling
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

What will your typical day look like?
