The Citizen Lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory based at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto, focusing on research, development, and high-level strategic policy and legal engagement at the intersection of information and communication technologies, human rights, and global security. Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Administration, Citizen Lab and working under the general direction of the Director, Citizen Lab, the Communication Strategist develops the strategic plan for increasing the Citizen Lab’s profile and presence in the national and international community and supporting a wide range of the Lab’s goals and priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy independently
- Developing and implementing digital communication campaigns and programs that support strategic objectives
- Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with senior management to gain approval for strategies and plans
- Drafting and editing content for print and/or online communications channels
- Overseeing and implementing website enhancement activities to support project/program goals and objectives
- Developing and implementing social media operational procedures and best practices that support strategic objectives

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, journalism or other related field, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience

- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing a variety of creative, persuasive and cost effective marketing and communications projects, preferably in a post-secondary research lab setting
