  • Support the delivery of Hydro One’s transmission capital work program, including substation and transmission line refurbishments by developing and maintaining detailed guidelines, process flows, training material and job aids for approved business processes.
  • Identify, define and prioritize process improvements related to Project Management practices and Hydro One’s Capital Project Delivery Model.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to improve business processes by understanding and communicating current practices and proposing modifications with a broad perspective to stakeholder requirements.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives in order to drive efficiency and productivity improvements across the company.
  • Support the development of business cases for key projects.
  • Engage in monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis activities.
  • Utilize existing management systems to analyze information to produce a variety of business information such as KPIs, scorecards, management reports, trends, performance reports and dashboard reports.
  • Coordinate, collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders within and external to Hydro One to ensure mutual objectives are achieved.
  • Assist with the administration of the Capital Project Delivery governance processes.
  • Enhance workflows and processes by working with internal stakeholders to identify, develop and roll out process improvements, including monitoring success of process improvements that have been implemented.
  • Develop and deliver training modules to help end users understand and effectively use processes as designed.
  • Other related duties as required.

Through this term you will learn about Ontario’s electricity grid, supporting projects that are focused on improvements to our transmission lines and substations across the province. These projects will provide exposure to engineering and construction processes and practices.Selection Criteria:

  • Experience with MS Visio, SharePoint, Excel and PowerPoint considered an asset.
  • Requires the ability to effectively facilitate cross functional meetings.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and facilitation skills are essential for this role.

Job description: The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) performs core financial activities to support the business goals of the organization, contributing to the overall success of the organization by effectively executing responsibilities and providing value added activities to meet the finance and Operational team objectives for Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (“THESL” or the “organization”).This position will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the processes, standards, and tools to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate and quality capital related plan and actual financial information for the organization. The incumbent works with internal stakeholders to facilitate the processes of business planning, capitalization, derecognition, month-end close and reporting and to support operational business decision-making as it relates to the capital program and in-service additions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance with respect to treatment of various financial transactions (e.g. capital expense versus operating expense). Lead cross functional teams to gather relevant case facts, perform research, provide recommendations on accounting treatment, as well as develop detailed implementation plans and monitoring controls.
  • Coordinate month end close, quarter end and year end activities for Property, Plant and Equipment and Intangible Assets. Perform first pass review of routine financial activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with Internal Controls over Financial Reporting.
