SNC-Lavalin is looking for Senior advisor, External Communications.

In this role you will be part of our global network of external communication experts. You will work in a transformative, collaborative and energetic environment supporting your peers in delivering integrated communications plans aligned to our global business objectives.

As part of our global external communications centre of expertise, you will be reporting to the Director, External Communications based in Canada. A storyteller at heart, you are rigorous and versatile with excellent writing skills and have experience writing for traditional and digital channels.

You are a strategic thinker who has experience working on the development and implementation of external communications strategies. You also have a strong understanding of the media landscape in Canada and have proactive and reactive media relations experience that you will be expected to leverage to raise awareness of the SNC-Lavalin Group brand.

Your issues management experience will enable you to advise the various business units on how best to mitigate reputation risks.

You will work with and support colleagues from around the world, develop your knowledge and skills while creating valuable relationships.

How will you contribute to the team?

Work collaboratively as part of a global team of external and internal communicators and marketeers working on both regional and global projects where required

Draft, revise, edit and produce a variety of communication tools intended for various external audiences (e.g. brief, key messages, press releases, social media posts, video scripts, etc.)

Work with the trade media to garner visibility for the SNC-Lavalin Group

Identify opportunities to address SNC-Lavalin’s various stakeholders

Provide advice regarding positioning and speaking engagements, with a proactive and multichannel approach

Work with internal, marketing and creative design teams to determine appropriate themes and content for communications projects and initiatives being planned

Devise effective reporting mechanisms and contribute to regular reporting on functional as well as tactical performance

Ensure that practices, procedures, methodologies and tools are used effectively so that the objectives set out in the business plan are attained.

What will you contribute?

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, literature, marketing or related field

At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience

Excellent writing skills in English

Proven ability to convey complex topics in simple language to multiple audiences

Proven ability to think in a multichannel approach

Proven ability to produce high quality corporate documents such as Annual Reports, Sustainability Reports on time and on budget

High accuracy and attention to detail

Strong organizational skills

Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Proven experience in issues management

Proven ability to create strategic links between events

Proven understanding of media landscape

Experience in advising on external communications best practices

Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders

Bilingualism (an asset)

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Financial Advisor, you’ll deliver on CIBC’s Imperial Service remote advisory offer, acting as a single point of contact for your clients and helping them plan for today’s needs and tomorrow’s goals. You’ll build and grow your client portfolio through dedicated relationship management, financial planning support, and exceptional client service. You’ll make lasting connections and provide tailored financial advice, enabling clients to secure their futures, own their homes, and build their businesses.

You will engage with clients primarily over the phone, video conferencing, all with the support of powerful digital tools. To excel in this tightly regulated role you should already have the appropriate licenses and knowledge of all the latest financial products on the market.

You’ll be required to work typical office hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and two 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM shifts per week, and one Saturday shift per month.

How You’ll Succeed

Building Deep Relationships with clients

  • Focus on each client experience and connect on a personal level to make every interaction meaningful.
  • Build and enhance relationships with new and existing clients by understanding their priorities, advise them on solutions, and provide a forward looking financial plan. Use your knowledge of cash management, credit, investment and wealth protection to recommend a full range of solutions considering the clients’ current situation, risk profile, time horizon, latest developments in the markets and other factors.
  • Proactively call and take calls from new and existing clients, with the goal of providing holistic advice

Subject Matter Expert

  • Leverage CIBC’s wide range of credit and investment solutions to provide a needs-based approach that will result in satisfied, loyal clients and increased referrals. Educate clients on the features and benefits of the Imperial Service Offer.
  • Leverage our strong suite of tools, including emerging digital capability to help clients understand what they need to do to achieve their goals and to encourage them to act on your recommendations.

We are looking for a skilled, creative and motivated Communications Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be largely responsible for planning, co-ordinating and producing content and campaigns for our social media and other content channels to help raise the profile of our network, our people and the services we provide. We’re looking for a self-motivated content creator who is full of ideas and not afraid to pick up the phone to find answers, interview about sensitive subjects and find that detail that makes a story sing. We’re looking for a critical thinker who can spot emerging trends and issues that will help us frame our story as a leader in health care. This position also supports internal communications as needed.

The Communications Advisor will report to the Manager of Media and Digital Strategy and work closely with our Senior Communication Advisors supporting our quality, research and education, and clinical portfolios across our network.


RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Generate ideas, write and develop stories and campaigns that demonstrate the commitments in our Strategic Plan and promote our brand.
  • Oversee the daily scheduling and posting for our social media calendar.
  • Monitor our social media channels for emerging issues, including issues management
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to requests and incoming questions from the public
  • Work with our media relations team to identify and pitch story ideas to journalists
  • Collect and analyze social media analytics to guide content strategy
  • Work collaboratively within the Communications and Public Affairs team, the Foundation and with other departments throughout the network.
  • Special projects and other strategic communication duties as assigned, including event support, producing internal communication assets, etc.
  • Act as the Communications & Public Affairs representative on a rotational basis after hours


QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in journalism, public relations, communications, or related area.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing communication strategies, public awareness campaigns, corporate communications or news stories.
  • Strong, clear writer and editor; must have ability to ensure error-free materials.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media analytics; knowledge of Excel an asset.
