Job Overview:
The PNE is a 115-year-old non-profit organization renowned for hosting events like the annual summer Fair, Playland amusement park, and various year-round activities. The Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing large, complex, and multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring they align with PNE’s mission to "Deliver Memorable Experiences."
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop and oversee the PNE’s multi-year capital plan and annual capital program.
- Utilize tools like MS Projects, MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and online PM tools for project management.
- Engage in confidential planning with operational and financial implications for the PNE.
- Monitor project milestones and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
- Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to project sponsors and executive stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project-related content to stakeholders and senior executives.
- Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Organize and lead meetings with project teams, stakeholders, and vendors, ensuring effective communication.
- Coordinate various meetings, including preparing agendas and confidential meeting minutes.
- Lead the development of RFPs and manage contract activities.
- Create reports and presentations for executive-level stakeholders, including the PNE Executive Team, PNE Board, Vancouver City Council, and the Vancouver Parks Board.
- Archive projects upon completion and share lessons learned.
- Supervise and engage contractors, vendors, and other external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Align PNE Masterplan projects with the organization’s corporate priorities, capital plan, and long-term vision.
- Supervise junior project management staff as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University degree in engineering, architecture, urban planning, project management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, preferably in a non-profit or event-focused environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management related to project execution.
- Understanding of risk management principles and the ability to develop mitigation strategies.
