Job description: DESCRIPTIONThe Region Flexibility Engineering (RFE) team is shaping how Amazon builders plan and execute region migrations. Teams across Amazon are working to diversify their AWS region usage to leverage the full capabilities of more AWS regions in order to grow and scale despite challenges such as physical limitations, changes in compliance legislation, and to reduce the blast radius of outages. The RFE team is responsible for the end-to-end builder experience to make that as easy and quick as possible for teams across Amazon.As a software development engineer on the RFE team, you will design and build solutions to accelerate company-wide initiatives in the region expansion, observability, security and availability spaces. Your contributions will impact tens of thousands of services and benefit hundreds of teams at Amazon, helping to automate repetitive tasks while improving developer experience. You will solve complex yet fun challenges by looking at the big picture while diving into the details. You will be supported by a large and experienced Principal Engineering community and work with many cross-cutting teams and technologies. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer who understands service-oriented architecture, and will help us help the business innovate quickly at scale. You will be responsible for scoping and delivering projects end-to-end, defining metrics that matter, and anticipating customer and business needs. Your strong communication skills will be showcased as you share your architectural visions and technical solutions with others. Your proven track record of designing and building distributed software solutions through an agile methodology enables you to get a fast start. The team is part of the Region Flexibility Engineering organization, which supports the rapid global expansion of Amazon’s infrastructure. Our team is responsible for the Region Flexibility Portal, the unified builder experience for planning and executing region migrations. Our product enable builders across Amazon businesses like Stores, Alexa, Kindle, Prime Video. We are a full-stack team, responsible for shaping and implementing the builder experience for how region migrations are planned and executed. We aim to make the migration experience as easy and quick as possible for builders across Amazon. Our organization focuses on robust and scalable solutions, simple to use, and delivered with engineering best practices.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS– 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience programming with at least one software programming languagePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
