Position:
As the Senior Analyst you will support the Senior Manager/Director, Regulatory Onboarding through the following primary functions:
- Assisting GBM clients in satisfying OTC Derivative Trading Regulatory Requirements (CanDer, Dodd-Frank, EMIR, HKMA, MAS)
- Ensuring client files are properly documented, while containing appropriate regulatory/data attributes to facilitate accurate downstream reporting
- Liaising with relevant stakeholders (Front Office, Credit, Margin, Documentation, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal) to enable clients to transact in a timely manner, while ensuring all regulatory requirements have been completed (pre-trade)
- Conduct ongoing client quality control reviews to ensure files are refreshed with accurate and complete data attributes
- Performing exception management, reconciliations, and data analysis across-systems to ensure counterparties are correctly mapped for downstream reporting
Accountabilities:
As the Senior Analyst you will operate independently, and in partnership with other internal/external stakeholders to deliver on the Bank’s OTC Derivative regulatory onboarding mandate. Demonstrates knowledge of trading products and capital markets documentation requirements necessary in support of strategic plans implemented to address reporting requirements from an execution and controls perspective.
- Communicate and liaises with various internal stakeholders (Front Office, Compliance, Operations, Internal Controls, Senior Management etc.) as required. Assists with the identification and resolution of process, control and data issues based on inquiries from internal stakeholders, and problem solves solutions to assess the risk faced by the bank, as well as implement solutions that control for risks for counterparty onboarding function.
- Responsible for updating 1A regulatory onboarding procedures, as well as making risk-based decisions under extremely strict timelines.
- Supports on all regulatory and ad-hoc requests involving compliance status’ and questions surrounding client-data.
- Answers regulatory-compliance and data queries in a timely manner, while considering the Bank’s rules-based escalation policies.
- Ensures all outgoing communications to clients are properly scripted, formatted, or customized as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of industry experience within capital markets dealing with regulatory onboarding or other regulatory related business processes; knowledge of multiple capital market product areas and jurisdictions, supporting the operations of a financial institution is desirable. A background in global OTC derivatives regulations (including business conduct, margin and other related requirements) and related regulatory controls experience is highly desired.
- Client-service experience is preferred as the role requires interaction with various client-types (Corporate, Commercial, Agency, Individuals). The international scope of the business, together with the multiplicity of stakeholders, will require work outside of traditional business hours from time to time.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. Interaction with internal and external contacts includes clients, GBM senior management, trading and marketing desks, corporate bankers, legal counsel, and Compliance.
- Must be able to operate effectively within an exceptionally time sensitive environment with changing priorities and tight time frames which are closely scrutinized by Senior/Executive Management.
- The position requires strong business acumen, sound judgment and critical thinking skills. The incumbent must be an action-oriented and self-motivated multi-tasker who possesses strong relationship management skills as the role requires.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office suite of products, including Work, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint; some experience using Visual Basic or other programming languages to automate manual/tactical tasks is preferred
