Why is this role important?The Coordinator contributes to the effective organization and labeling of content in support of a remarkable navigation and search experience. Through the careful coordination of CIHI’s information architecture processes, including the gathering, storage and application of taxonomy for published content, this role ensures a positive experience for users throughout our digital ecosystem.What you’ll do1. Under the direction of the Team Lead, Information Architecture and SEO, assists with implementing the enterprise IA strategy, which includes but is not limited to, content organization, labeling, navigation, and search.2. Coordinates the collection of labeling and tagging information (taxonomy) as part of our digital content publishing process. Identifies and recommends new labels for the taxonomy. Reviews taxonomy for compliance with IA standards. Identifies process gaps and provides recommendations for improvement. Assists with implementing and documenting changes.3. Helps establish and document IA rules and standards in support of CIHI’s information architecture, including content organization, labelling, navigation, and search experience.4. Assists with communicating IA standards and processes to staff, including preparing presentations and facilitating meetings.5. Maintains a central repository of taxonomy information.6. Conducts regular content audits and works with content authors to implement improvements to content organization, findability, and readability.7. Maintains a calendar for scheduling content audits, assigning taxonomy to content and other tasks associated with implementing the IA strategy.8. Performs some copy writing, primarily optimizing for search, such things as titles, meta descriptions, headers and other text.9. Uses website metrics, usability and card-sorting data to make recommendations on optimizing search, navigation structures, labels, tags and content organization.10. Performs other duties as assigned.What you’ll bring to the table

  • University degree in Information Architecture, Computer Science, Library and Information Sciences, Digital Marketing, User Experience, or a combination of related education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years’ experience organizing a website’s content, including creating content inventories, conducting content audits, and assigning taxonomy to content.
  • Experience creating taxonomies, information hierarchies, sitemaps, and customer journeys.
  • Experience documenting and creating visual representations of business processes; web site information architecture; and taxonomies and ontologies, through diagrams, flow charts, storyboards, presentations and other visual formats.
  • Experience writing SEO-rich web copy, tags, titles and page descriptions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; great team player and emotionally intelligent professional; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with MS Sharepoint.
  • Strong knowledge of information architecture concepts, and UX and usability best practices for digital content, websites, and mobile apps.
  • Strong knowledge of user centered design and user experience principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Drupal would be an asset.
  • Proficiency with diagramming or site mapping tools like Visio, Lucidchart, Powermapper, Excel or equivalent tools would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
