Job title: Experience Design Director

Company: BIMM

Job description: BIMM is booming, so we’re looking for an Experience Design Director to join our team!

WHO WE ARE

At BIMM, everything we do is guided by a simple philosophy: Marketing with greater certainty. And for more than 30 years, we’ve achieved that by crafting high-performing direct and digital campaigns for some of the biggest brands in Canada and internationally.

We are problem solvers. We pride ourselves on resolving complex digital experience challenges for our clients, and we thrive on creating amazing digital experiences.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As our Experience Design Director, you will guide the overall approach to—and practice of—experience design at BIMM. You will oversee a talented team of UX and UI designers, UX researchers, content writers and strategists, and most importantly, you will uphold our mandate to deliver best-in-class digital user experiences.

We are looking for a leader to refine our efforts and formalize this craft with us. Your management style should be bottom-up, and you should bring a collaborative voice to the team while bringing out the strengths in all individuals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor our team of UX and UI designers, researchers, writers, and strategists by fostering a strong learning environment
  • Strengthen, streamline, and leverage the exceptional multidisciplinary skill sets of our experience design team by providing regular performance check-ins
  • Manage UX and UI design and content strategy activities and resources across multiple external and internal projects
  • Understand possibilities—as well as limitations—in solving complex design challenges for a larger, multi-tiered international client (multiple stakeholders)
  • Drive design quality, practice, and offerings that meet business and user goals
  • Represent the design team in proposal creation
  • Work closely with our development teams and leaders to ensure that our designs fit with our technical considerations and they are being brought to life appropriately
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and innovations in the marketplace that could help our clients better serve their customers
  • Own craft and capability output across key projects, ensuring each project deliverable is of the highest quality
  • Expand our user testing capabilities and enhance our data-driven approach ( refining SEO, A/B testing, contextual inquiry, interview, surveys, competitive analysis)
  • Work as trusted advisor with our clients, leveraging deep industry and market knowledge to guide product development
  • Have solid knowledge of the automotive market—you can speak informatively with our clients regarding the industry about content, craft, and trends in this space

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A Collaborative Mentor

  • You have a proven track record of leading and empowering team members with your exceptional interpersonal skills. Your eagerness to mentor and elevate staff is undeniable
  • You are adept at building authentic relationships and developing a deep understanding for our team’s needs.
  • You possess a contagious passion for product design
  • You have curated a strong portfolio that demonstrates digital experience case studies you are proud of

A Passionate Innovator

  • Sketch, Figma and Zeplin are familiar to you but you are also itching to try a new tool you just learnt about. Solid understanding of common and emerging technologies in front-end and back-end platforms
  • You bring a solid foundation of UX and UI design principles with you that you have gained through formal training or hands-on experience
  • Content strategy is one of your areas of expertise

An Industry Expert

  • You have at least 4 years of leadership experience from the digital services industry where you surpassed your set goals
  • You light up a room with your presentation skills by seamlessly translating our exceptional work to client
  • Experience in AODA design principles and standards
