As a Digital Innovation Specialist, you will be the cornerstone in creating visual branding, video media and presence for both the innovation team and teams within GRM.

You will work closely with GRM’s FC & AML (Financial Crimes & Anti-Money Laundering) team to contribute to the brainstorming, prototyping and general creative process for many innovative and cross-function projects. You are a designer in every sense of the word – UX, UI, Experience Design – and are always looking to meaningfully connect with employees and everyone around you. You are someone who can create high quality and engaging content from conception to execution, and are always up for new complex challenges.

What will you do?

  • Create, process and edit high quality videos, animations and presentations
  • Build anything from high and low fidelity wireframes, beautiful landing pages, cool pieces for events, posters or infographics – anything!
  • Participate and help with brainstorming sessions
  • Conduct market and design research to assist in various innovative projects
  • Create content strategies to build virtual engagement in a digital environment
  • Partner with the Business Management Team to design and execute on ideas to increase engagement
  • This role will be completely virtual, with a flexible work schedule

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on Design, User Experience, Animation, Videography or Fine Arts or other related degree/combination of experience
  • Creative thinker who is capable of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines
  • Passion for solving complex problems, innovation and technology
  • Demonstrated skills in design (e.g. graphic design, brand marketing/management), filming/editing and storytelling
  • Adobe Suite
  • InVision/Sketch/Azure/Adobe XD
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)

Nice-to-have

  • You have experience with graphic and web design – CSS, HTML, Angular and related web standards.
  • You have experience with user research, mind-mapping, wire-framing, and creating personas or other service design tools
  • Experience in Design Thinking, Prototyping and facilitating brainstorm sessions and workshops
  • Experience with planning and hosting virtual or in-person events and conferences

  • Play a key role in employee engagement and retention, including career development and progression and succession planning for all critical positions.
  • Recruit qualified team members and project resources, including external contractors, which involves managing vendor relationships, onboarding, and scheduling.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Ensure the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture are considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Partner with control functions within Scotiabank, such as: IT Security, Risk Management, Audit, and Compliance.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive roles within Engineering/Technology, including leading technology teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field, OR equivalent work experience.
  • Marketing Technology expertise, including hands-on experience with AEM (Adobe Experience Manager).
  • Experience with large and complex enterprise systems; existing systems and new technologies.
  • Business knowledge and experience; understanding of vision, financial objectives, how business functions, processes and technology interact; the strategic importance of project, and how projects impact business goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing, and implementing software project and programs.
  • Expert knowledge of software development processes: SDLC, system design and delivery, development, architecture, disaster recovery, change management, release management, infrastructure management.
  • Knowledgeable in software security, cyber security, vulnerabilities, security breaches and malicious attacks.
  • Vendor management experience, contract negotiations and managing external contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team members with differing skill levels and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders with completing priorities.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving to rapidly assess risk and issues.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple completing and complex initiatives.
