What you’ll be doing

As a Content Writer specializing in operations communications and copywriting for our banking team at CIBC and Simplii Financial, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and customer-centric copy for various channels, audiences, and operational communications. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, enhancing the overall customer experience, and collaborating with legal, compliance, design, and marketing teams.

How You’ll Succeed

Analytical Thinking – You will develop and maintain written materials outlining bank policies, procedures, and terms and conditions in a user-friendly manner. You will also stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting banking communications and update content accordingly. You will conduct A/B testing and analyze data to improve copy quality and impact.

Customer Centric – You will generate content for customer updates, announcements, and service-related communications, conveying essential information in a straightforward and accessible manner. You will work closely with relevant departments to stay informed about changes affecting customer accounts. You will write customer service messages that respond to queries, complaints, feedback, and requests in a professional and empathetic tone. You will write legislation updates that inform customers and stakeholders about changes in policies, regulations, and procedures that affect their accounts or services. You will write account messages that notify customers about their balances, transactions, statements, rewards, and offers in a concise and accurate manner. You will write letters that address different scenarios, such as welcome letters, renewal letters, cancellation letters, and apology letters, using appropriate language and formatting.

Technical Expertise – You will collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure all written materials meet regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with designers, developers, marketers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality content that aligns with brand voice and goals. You will research and understand the target audience, market trends, and best practices. You will apply agile methodology and feedback loops to iterate and improve copy based on data and insights. You will solve problems and find creative solutions for various copywriting challenges. You will edit, proofread, and revise your own and others’ copy to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with brand guidelines and legal requirements.

Content creation and strategy: You’ll create and edit content that meets Simplii editorial standards and digital best practices. You’ll perform content audits and reviews to analyze the effectiveness of our copy and recommend improvements that align with our purpose of being radically simple. You’ll leverage analytics, market data and competitive research to help create and maintain meaningful content.

Communication: You’ll use your powers of communication and consultation to speak to your content with authority. Your solid communication skills are a must for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, product owners and internal pod members.

Development and collaboration: The role involves managing multiple initiatives at one time, requiring excellent organizational and time management skills. You’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team that includes developers, testers, user experience and visual designers, and business analysts and partners. You’ll work with the strategy and product teams to provide outstanding user experiences, insights and guidance to team members.

Quality control and upkeep: You’ll use multiple tools, including Confluence, JIRA and the Office suite, to help manage our content and workflows. You’ll follow version control standards to ensure consistency across projects.

Research: You’ll participate in user research and help gather results to make content recommendations.

Who You Are

You have experience and/or a degree/diploma in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Technical Writing (or related fields)

You can demonstrate experience with editing and creating content that follows brand guidelines and meets WCAG accessibility standards. You’ve adhered to, contributed to and helped maintain a content style guide. You have a strong understanding of content creation strategies, and can plan and lead a variety of research techniques to uncover user insights.

You have a strong understanding of regulatory standards and compliance in financial communications.
