Day In the Life

The Brand Marketing Manager is a results-driven marketer, with a passion for bringing style and quality to consumers everyday. The Marketing Manager brings our private label long-term strategy to life executing in-year campaigns with excellence in a fast-paced and quickly transforming omnichannel retail environment.

As the Brand Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for The Bay’s private labels including the launch of an exciting new fashion brand across Canada. With a strong understanding of the consumer, you will develop seasonal strategies and initiatives aligned to the master brand vision, with the goal to build awareness and drive our private label business. Through collaboration with key brand and business partners you leverage the go to market process ensuring the brand makes relevant connections with consumers. You are proficient in writing effective creative briefs for campaigns and marketing initiatives to turn innovative plans into strong results and deliver on brand objectives & KPIs. Additionally, you have a passion for creating digital media campaigns and can effectively develop and analyze a media plan with support from agency partners. You will track and optimize plans in-flight to change as necessary with robust post campaign evaluation and learnings to continually improve.

  • Drive brand vision and strategy for The Bay’s private labels including detailed annual and seasonal brand plan
  • Lead brand process seasonally including integrated strategic brief development for creative and media stakeholders including clear desired results
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on business development and strategy driving profitable growth
  • Leverage external and internal agency relationships to drive game-changing creative executions that re-imagine our private labels while complementing The Bay master brand
  • Use consumer, market, cultural, and competitive insights to drive the brand plans & KPIS
  • Presents strategy and concepts to leaders across the marketing organization and cross-functionally to drive shared understanding and direction

What you will need:

  • 4+ years of experience in a marketing role, with proven experience in developing and bringing integrated campaigns to life, while leading team(s)

Day in the Life:

The Social Creative Manager is a seasoned social media expert who is deeply familiar with all relevant platforms and their best practices while at the same time deeply engaged with and passionate about style, fashion and home goods.   • Support the rigorous vetting of the weekly marketing program to ensure achievement of the profitable sales plan for the Hudson’s Bay stores.
  • Work with the Marketing DVP to measure and review the ongoing effectiveness of the marketing programs and communicate the results to the business partners.
  • Based on the results, develop, and implement financially viable ‘course correction’ activity to ensure the achievement of the financial goals.
  • Build business summary on a weekly basis, Marketing DVP reviews as required.
  • Provide effective communication to the store teams on all initiatives and programs to enable flawless, consumer friendly execution.
  • Generate, maintain, and share key campaign documents to ensure alignment across the marketing department and relevant internal teams-from developing marketing milestones and creating pitch presentations, to curating marketing highlights and performance reports
  • Use actionable research and data to improve, optimize and drive future campaigns while incorporating a fast & fearless model of learning
  • Develop and demonstrate a clear and persuasive presentation style, and ensure presentation support materials are accurate and consistent with brand standards
  • Work with cross-functional partners to drive initiatives and manage day-to-day operations of the program, including communicating with key players, building and sharing best practices, offering solutions to critical issues and innovating the program to remain relevant to customers
  • Partner with merchants, business development teams and stores to identify and drive licensed business opportunities, including restaurants, services, merchandise, and pop-ups
  • Ideate and lead specialty campaigns including, but not limited to, store pop ups, brand launches and exclusive product drops
  • Ensure marketing briefs are completed with excellence and on time, including key insights, learnings, and social listening / trends.
  • Drive organizational engagement through ownership of team-building activities
  • Proactively respond to changing business trends
  • Provide leadership, career planning and coaching to indirect report associate(s).
  • Proof all work for accuracy, paying close attention to detail
  • Perform other duties as required

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Honors Degree in Marketing
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated and progressive success in marketing roles (retail is a plus!)

Reporting to the Manager Digital Merchandising, the Digital Merchandising Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day to day performance and merchandising of the total category to deliver sales and site experience objectives on thebay.com. This position is passionate about site experience and analyzing data to implement the online linking and navigation strategies. The specialist will work closely with the buying, item set-up and marketing teams to ensure all marketing campaigns/editorials are executed in a timely manner, and the site standards are achieved and cohesive.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the Manager Digital Merchandising to achieve the sales and margin plans in the given area of business
  • Passionate about creating a best in class shopping experience, Utilizing web analytics, AB testing tools and leveraging customer data (e.g. Foresee and Full Story) to optimize product findability and UX
  • Help support the conceptualization, prioritization and calendarization of digital editorial for an assigned area of business
  • Populate creative briefs and turn-in activities for editorial content and conduct performance analysis
  • Clearly communicate sample timelines to merchants. Secure all samples with strict adherence to due dates. Organize and present all samples to Category Manager for final review. Tag and pack all samples and ships to studio and return samples to Merchants if applicable
  • Work with vendors and buyers to secure vendor assets for category pages, editorial projects, brand shops, & emails. Track assets against creative briefs to ensure all are delivered complete and on time
  • Support key milestone meetings by making copies of meeting documents. Take accurate notes and publish to the group as warranted. Follow-up as needed on outstanding issues
  • Generate sales templates based on marketing campaigns to apply linking strategy
  • Consistent auditing of changes and updates to marketing campaigns
  • Build optimal item lists in partnership with cross-functional teams for linking of banners and emails to sales pages based on predetermined strategy
  • Manipulation of products and brands to increase or decrease exposure according to given direction
  • Populating curated products for custom arrays
  • Quality check of changes/updates of categories and refinements to ensure new standards are delivering expected results
  • Prepare materials for regular update meetings, including web analytics, updates on sale information, upcoming launches and promotions, corrective actions, etc.
  • Other duties as required in support of the Digital merchandising team

What You Will Need:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business or related field
  • Have an understanding of and passion for digital retail landscape
  • Working knowledge of platform systems and site analytics tools (ex: Google Analytics and Adobe Omniture)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Power Point) and the ability to quickly learn internal systems, processes and additional software/web-based applications
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce Business Manager would be an asset
  • Action-oriented with the ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills

The Social Media Specialist – Creator reports into the Social Media Manager – Creator and will be a key contributor to building a digital-first and purpose driven brand.   • Partnership with key platforms to identify creator trends and opportunities

  • Support development and organizational learning around creator guidelines and best practices

  • Strong understanding of creator budget (organic) and partnership with media team to deliver strong paid execution

  • Derive insights from reports on performance metrics, analyzing results and identifying enhancement opportunities

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, including experience in partnerships and social media at a retailer, tech company or agency

  • In-depth understanding of key performance metrics and the ability to recognize how they might impact the business

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Strong written and verbal skills; ability to build cross-channel relationships and influence key business partners with a respectful, can-do attitude
