How you will make an impact (responsibilities of the role):

  • Guide and engage development teams to be able to measure and set the baseline for their product’s response time, stability, and scalability.
  • Quality engineering practices specific to performance and load:
  • Set up guidelines and processes.
  • Pointing out where, when and how to test, this includes how to create a testing environment proportionate to production
  • Oversee test implementation and execution. This includes managing defect lifecycles and release processes.
  • Able to advise on AOT – Ahead of Time predictability, observability and redundancy
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities including how to increase test coverage and suggest a plan of action.
  • Collect and make use of quality measurements, using the data to improve processes and products.
  • Work with development teams in evaluating and implementing new technologies and test platforms. Carry out activities that support development teams in terms of quality management best practices.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop our Quality Engineers, along with Full Stack Developers and Data Engineers in Quality Engineering practices while fostering a culture of collaboration

What you could bring to our team:

  • You have 5 years or more experience in software development, and at least 3 years of experience in quality management, hands on experience especially in the area of performance and load testing.
  • You have working knowledge of security testing
  • You have demonstrated the ability to drive innovation and improvements on overall quality processes, including developing and monitoring quality standards and measurements.
  • You have exposure to a variety of different testing techniques for application speed, stability and scalability. You have participated in designing and implementing a product’s test strategies.
  • You are experienced in a variety of test types, both functional and non-functional, e.g. unit, integration, contract, accessibility, performance testing and database testing.
  • You have built test automation pipelines, as part of a product’s CI/CD process. You have a good understanding of branch strategy and Git workflow.
  • You can read and write code in general purpose programming languages, e.g. javascript, java, python, Bash/Shell scripting, groovy or Ruby, Swift, Kotlin, Objective C
  • You are knowledgeable in a number of test and automation platforms and frameworks, e.g. Loadrunner, Gatling, JMeter, SQL, MongoDB, Jenkins, Robot, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Playwright, Postman, message brokers. You have experience in observing, optimizing and tuning test performance.
  • You have worked with Agile methodologies. You understand the software development ecosystem and the role that quality management plays in it.
  • You have experience coaching teams to adopt a quality mindset and practice quality engineering. You are able to analyze and guide a team through the tradeoffs between investing in manual or automated testing and best practices
  • You are a problem solver and communicate well. You take ownership of the work you do, see problems as opportunities, and love sharing new ideas. You are a dynamic individual who loves to learn and connect with others.
  • You possess a degree, diploma or equivalent in a software development or scientific/engineering related discipline delivered by a recognized learning institution. But we know not everyone gains their programming skills this way.
  • Experience is desired in one of these disciplines: Web, Mobile Applications, Analytics, API and GraphQL
  • Experience with building and testing applications that sit on Cloud, (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure), and/or other auto scaling cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with building and testing applications that experience unpredictable spikes of heavy traffic/load

Assets:

  • Strong understanding back-end technologies and their performance-related characteristics
  • You possess broad skill sets on various types of tests, their design and execution patterns, especially non functional tests like security and resiliency.
  • You have experience in collecting and analyzing data to help improve product performance and stability
  • You have experience in automating testing of high-traffic media-rich websites, including performance and load testing.
  • You are a domain expert of one or more mainstream test or automation platforms.
  • You are multilingual in programming languages. You are proficient in writing with a number of languages and you can read most languages.

  • College or university diploma in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an IT support team
