Duties / Responsibilities:
1. Develops and implements communication products, correspondence, presentation materials and coordinates marketing and media relations activities for the Agency.
2. Lead and execute communications and media relations activities that promote the Agency’s events to the public and media through the planning, implementation and evaluation of proactive and reactive media relations strategies and proactive media outreach.
3. To provide communications advice and support to government agency through the development of communications plans and materials, writing and editing services, and coordination of communications and outreach initiatives.
4. Identifies opportunities for the Agency to engage media and build and maintain relationships with media by:
a) Developing and maintaining an outreach program for existing and potential media/ partners;
b) Creating contact lists for media who cover life sciences, advanced manufacturing and technology sectors;
c) Responding to inquiries in a timely manner and facilitating communications, outreach and public relations activities and needs regarding government agency news or events;
d) Researching media needs and interests and suggesting appropriate story ideas, or outreach opportunities.
e) Developing and maintaining the Agency’s communications and outreach kit; and,
f) Identifying and briefing Agency spokespeople (executives, Board members) to provide interviews to media including developing, providing key messages and drafting speeches.
5. Remains current on activities in the Agency to ensure that planned events and the dissemination of information are well timed and appropriately positioned. Oversees the Agency’s media monitoring system and media analyses on all major communications issues.
6. Leads digital marketing strategy for Executive Management team including LinkedIn postings for CEO and Board Chair.
7. Liaises with ministry staff (e.g., Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade), regional and municipal organizations, business and business coalitions, and other government agencies as required.
8. Edits and proofreads materials prepared by other staff.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

VP, Product Marketing, Global Small Business Payments
